Have a Zenith model #Z56296D8 that recently the picture started to get darker. Now the picture is black, but when I change channels I can hear the channels fine. (3) years ago I replaced the High Voltage Module, is this the culprit again?? The TV is in a heavy smoking environment, does this effect the module?? PLEASE HELP!!!! Thanks, Steve
Your HV circuit is defective. Most likely horizontal output transistor is shorted and you may need to replace the flyback. You need to call an expert.

My Zenith R56W28 had gotten progressively darker to the point where you could barely watch it.I opened the top (projection) compartment on mine and blew it out with an air pump.Helped a little. Then I took the screws out of the left half of the back on the lower compartment where the electronics and power supplies are located.Stuck my air pump hose in and blew out all the dirt and dust.Checked the picture and it was as good as new!I love these TV's!First problem I've had with it in 15 years!Practically bullet proof!
