I know this is an old post, but sounds like your CCD sensor is shot. Check out this link: http://dcviews.com/press/Konica-Minolta-Oct05.htm My camera did the same thing. It was 2years out of warranty, but Sony (now owns Konica-Minolta) asked me to send it in. When they could not fix it they gave me a brand new Sony Alpha DSLR-a100K!!!! Jid

I just purchased a 4GB SanDisk Extreme lll CompactFlash for my camers but when I try to use it I get the Unable to use card message. What can I do?

I suspect 2GB is the maximum the camera will take. A 2GB Sandisk card works in my 7i. When the DiMAGE 7i was launched, 256mB was about as big as CF cards got!

Occasionally while shooting in auto/portrait my shutter will stay open for 1 second or longer, for no reason

Have you tried to reset the camera and reboot the firmware? I had that problem with a friend's camera and it simply worked.
Other thing is: are you using the original battery or a third party battery? sometimes bad quality batteries are creating such a problems like shutting down the camera, shutter lags...

I hope it helps, if not let me know

Did you accidentally hit the "DISPLAY" button on the back of your camera? It manually turns the display on and off to save batteries.

Konica Minolta DiMAGE 7i Digital Camera Problem

I just found a solution to my camera problem. It turned out to be the batteries. We purchases some Rechargable Duracel with a 2650mAh rating. After charging the batteries I put them in the camera and it started right up and was taking photos like when we first bought it. I have not been able to use the camera in almost 2 years and it turns out the problem was weak batteries.

So anyone that has a Minolta Dimage 7i and cant get it to turn on make sure you have at least 2650mAh rated rechargable batteries. The higher the mAh rating the better.

Hope this helps someone else. We are ecstatic that we can use our camera again. No more using my camera phone!!!

What is the Digital Effects Control (DEC)?

With this function, you can adjust exposure, contrast, and saturation through the viewfinder itself, prior to image capture. You can check how your adjustments will look using either the viewfinder or the LCD monitor. This feature makes it easy to get the unique images you want in many different shooting situations. DiMAGE 7i is capable of setting contrast, color saturation and filter in the following increments. Contrast: In seven levels from -3 to +3 Color Saturation: In seven levels from -3 to +3 Filter: In seven levels ranging from warm (reddish) to cool (bluish) colors.

What is the number of recorded pixels on the DiMAGE 7i?

The DiMAGE 7i has four different image size settings; Full 2560x1920, UXGA 1600x1200, XGA 1280x960 and VGA 640-480. The recorded pixel size in each mode is almost equivalent to an image captured with a 5 mega pixel, a 2 mega-pixel, 1.3 mega-pixel, 0.35 mega-pixel DSC respectively.

Konica Minolta Dimage 7 delay in start up and shot down procedure Hi, I have a Minolta Dimage 7 Digital Camera SN91202050. I'm very keen in electronics and I have its service manual (45 pages). Few months ago, I upgraded the firmware to ver 2.01e. (I read the full compatebility notice before installing). The camera worked so fine. I've got about 2000 jpgs And the last day I took about 200 jpgs in a very short period of time. So I was enforced to exchange the batteries during the snapshots. I'm using 2500mAh MiMH Kodak batteries. I noticed that the grey front right hand part of the camera is a little bit overheated. The next day, and after the camera returned to its normal temperature, I tried turning the Main Switch/ Mode Dial from OFF to Recording Mode, after putting a completely charged batteries. Unfortunately, I heard a small sound "Tick" then nothing happened else, the Data panel stayed dim(unlit) and with no data, and no red indicator had seen, also the monitor LCD didn't start. I didn't hear the noises which the camera should give in normal conditions. I left the switch as is, few minutes later, the camera continued the startup procedure, as I heard the noises and the Data panel lit in green and it displayed the normal status. I made several snapshots and everything were going well. I turned the **** to playback mode, I have seen the entire snapshots I did. Which mean tha the CF card is working well. Also all the other knobs were working properly. Then I decided to turn the camera OFF. Again, the LCD monitor turned OFF directly, but the upper Data Panel was left ON!!! And I heard "tick" Few minutes later, it turned OFF automatically. And I heard the same noises in the normal manner. 1-Does that mean the main board had a cold welding point? Or, the board was affected in the earlier overheating. I tried to use the transformer instead of the internal batteries, and I found this same situation. Delay in the turn on and turn off. And also the delay period is the same. 2-Does that mean that some chemical capacitors were damaged? ( wich capacitor should I replace?). 3- Does that mean there is a cold welding in some points beyond the processor in the MAIN PCB ASSY(0402) due to the frequent humidity and overheating? N.B I tested the internal backup battery, and it gave 3.24V (it's ok) Kind Regards, Soubhi Sabbagh Email: [email protected]
