Since the light is on its own circuit this dont surprise me at all. The most likely cause of this is the contacts on the inside of the heater. the wire inside of the unit is very small for a heater, bad design, and is conected by spade conectors. my wire in mine burnt through and did the same thing. I bought some good thick wire and rewired the unit direct and this seemed to fix the problem. If you need further assistance check out some of my other solutions in this same area.

Fix a presto heatdish thermostat

Bypass the internal rheostat by attaching the two wires at the rheostat together (or the wires going into the heat sensor (the little round shiny thing attached at the top of the dish inside)) via soldering and sealing with heat shrink tubing or use a wire nut then buy a remote digital wireless thermostat you will then plug your heater into. Amazon sells one with a remote control for a lot less than a new heater ($24.95). You simply plug the thermostat into your wall plug and plug your heater into the thermostat and wallah, no more heater problems. There are several remote non digital thermostats that use a control knob if you prefer that are available for less $$ than mentioned as well.

Where can i locate the on/off machinism for the presto heat dish?

Handy top-mounted thermostatic control maintains the desired temperature automatically plus it has a special safeguard features turn the heater off automatically in case of accidental tip-over. Because of this technology they eliminated an on/off switch. You have to unplug it if you want it to be totally off. sorry

Presto Heat Dish: footlight lens

The wattage of the replacement bulb should be 4 watts or less. Don't know the wattage of a C7. It is still safe to use. You could call Presto at 800.877.0441 or find a 4 watt bulb.

Or try a thrift store for a used one. Do a search for "heat dish" without the quotes, and you will get a few hits. Amazon.com has a few of this type of heater.

Presto Heat Dish w/footlight

This heater must be flat on the floor or it will buzz, and the metal dish must be clean or it will transfer heat to the safety device. If this does not solve the problem call customer service at 800-877-0441.

Presto Heat Dish

The hardest part of cleaning the dish is that you can't get your hand inside the cage surrounding the dish. What I did was to use a wire cutter to snip enough pieces of the cage off so that I could get access to the dish. If you do it carefully, it looks as if it was intended and doesn't prevent the cage from working. If you think of the cage/dish as a clock, I cut all the strips between 9 and 11, and 1 and 3. Easy to clean the dish afterwards.

That might not solve the buzzing problem, though. It didn't solve it for me.

It sounds like the heater is drawing more amps than your fuse is capable of handling. look at the i.d. plate and see what the wattage is for the appliance.
