Lines my father was messing with the controller and lines appeared on the top of the tv screen. the problem is definitely with the tv, but i can't recreate or fix the problems. the lines are narrow and seem to fit the color of whatever is on the screen. it seems similar to what would happen if you adjusted the video to move closer to another channel in frequency, like with uhf tvs.

T V turns on, can't get the HDMI to appear on the screen for the signal.

HDMI is the High Definition Media Interface PORT on the back of a modern Flat Panel TV or Monitor.
The remote control should allow a selection menu to appear on the screen so you can choose an alternate signal input from another device or set top box.
Perhaps the TV senses that there is no signal on that HDMI cable plugged into the back port, so therefore it won't show it on the screen menu.
Turn on the device attached to the other end of the HDMI cable.

How do I change my LG 4k to a higher resolution.

It depends on your source video resolution. If you're willing to play in 4K, you can upscale your 1080p or 720p video to 4K resolution in advance. Here is the video tutorial:
After conversion, it will be played in 4K on your TV. Of course, it's all based on that your TV supports 4K.

Black bar on the top and bottom during watching the tv

Hello

If you are watching television and you see black lines on the left and right sides of the screen, check to see if you are watching an HD broadcast or a standard definition broadcast. You can do this by bringing up the TV guide menu on your remote. If the show is in HD, it should take up the full screen. However, if it is not HD, bars will be present on the left and right of the screen. That is because standard definition programing is in 4x3, which will not take up the entire screen.

If the picture you are watching not only has black bars on the sides, but on the tops and bottoms of the screen as well, your "Zoom" mode has somehow gotten off-kilter. Press the "Zoom" button on the remote until the image appears correct. If this does not work, power down the television, wait a few moments, and power the TV back on. The image should be correct now.

If the image on the screen looks stretched or squished, this is because your HD cable receiver is not set up properly for your widescreen television. Press the "Menu" button on the receiver

Lines across my tv where the picture is reversed

You have bad capacitors in the vertical deflection. And you will have to resolder the vertical IC as well. Replace the caps in the area of the vertical IC. Find a TV tech or hobbiest to do this!

I have red lines running from top to bottom in the middle of the screen.

Most likely the control board on a problem like that. If you do open it. Spray and upside down can of compressed air on the biggest IC , the control processor, to cool it down. If the lines immediately go away, the control board is your culprit. If they don't appear when the TV is cold, but start to appear when it is warm, that would also indicate most likely it is that board.

I had my 42 inch orion plasma for about 1 year when i unplugged a camcorder from the s-video while still playing and about 10 horizontal lines appeared accross the top of the screen.now about another year...

Unplugging camcorder haven't damage your set. Looks like you have an issue with you main/signal board. while you pull the plug, you may stress the connections on the board, what about to be happen, anyway. To diagnose and fix plazma you must be an expert, definitely not a beginner. If you want to take a chance of braking the display, you may try to poke it open, face down on soft surface(about 50 screws) and tap on the board with all of plug connections, wile tv is working, but need someone to help you, by holding tv on it's bottom(if there are no speakers) or top.look at the screen and see, if tapping makes a difference. If it is, you've got lucky! If not, surrender to experts.
good luck,

Definition of t-con board

Hello, I've got a Sony Bravia LCD TV. The top 1/3 of the screen looks fine, the bottom 2/3 looks blurry with some vertical lines. The screen does not appear to be broken. The screen is always like that, regardless of what is plugged in (RCA, VGA, etc.). What is the likely problem and how much can I expect to pay for this repair? Is this something we can do or we should take it to a shop? I could send a picture if that would help diagnose the problem. Thanks you.

Lines on tv screen

Both sound like bad LCD panels. The following must be answered to confirm this:
Do the lines appear on all inputs/all signal sources?
Can they be seen in the OSD/menu?
If yes to both questions, it is likely that the LCD panel is bad

Color messed up

Most likely your visitor turned one of the controls located on the back of the TV. There are only two controls they are the right side of the set in the back. The top one is the focus and the bottom one is the SCREEN control. You can carefully rotate clockwise the screen control until the brightness is back to normal. If you go to high with it you will see faint diagonal lines going accross the picture.

Line across top of screen

If the picture is ok otherwise then only thing that probably needs to be done is a vertical height adjustment. That is if the lines never changes position from cold to hot.
