Everything else is working fine even the vcr funtion of the camera. It's when I go to recording function that I don't see any picture. It records sound but no picture.... I want to make sure it's beyond my capacity to fix it before I bring it to the shop and spend money for it.
I know that this may sound trivial or obvious, but I believe you should never overlook the easy solutions first. Is the lense cap off or open during record? Certainly the problem you describe would be exactly what you get with a lense cap in place. I have seen units which have a slide switch to open the lense cover which did not work and the customer thought it was open when it wasn't. If that is not the case the only other problem which would cause this would be a defective CCD block (imager) or a bad connection from the CCD block such as a ribbon cable loose or out of a connector. In either case this would not be something that you could fix and you would need to seek the help of a repair shop. Two websites which offer free estimates are http://www.videotech.com or http://www.camcorderrepair.com Good luck.
