Kenmore 90 plus series dryer won't work

First off, let me say that I have no idea if my dryer is the one indicated - I just had to choose something to get this posted. Its a Kenmore 90 plus series electric dryer. Push button to start on the right.

Threw a load in the dryer and heard loud screaching noises - sounded like a belt or something. It kept drying clothes, so I kept it going. As the cycle went on, the sound lessened and stopped.

I did about 4 loads with the same scenario.

Then, I put in a 5th load and there was a loud screach/pop upon pushing the start button - but it worked - in the same manner as above. I think it may have stopped in the middle of the load though, (not sure) cause the blanket in there was still damp when I tried to restart the dryer. Upon attempting to restart the dryer I got the following results: when I pushed the start button, no sound, and no movement/drying - dead.

Anyone have any suggestions of what I might try to fix this?

Sounds like the belt has broken. You could probably also use new drum support rollers. Check out this site which shows how to change a dryer belt:

It's not a difficult job if you're comfortable working with hand tools.

Kenmore 90 Plus Series Electric Dryer trip

It sounds like the motor switch which is actually inside the motor on the model. It is very expensive to replace motor so it may not be worth fixing......

Although I stick to the above statement; I have seen cases where a thermal fuse wire has come loose and perhaps sometimes touching(allowing heat) and sometimes not(hitting something blowing the breaker.... Check all wires on blower vent area... GOODLUCK!!!
