The ARCHOS 7 has a removable battery. You can purchase extra batteries fromwww.archos.com.Caution: if the battery is incorrectly replaced or short-circuited, this could resultin damage to the product and/or serious injuries to the user. Replace onlywith an original Archos battery.To replace the battery, follow these steps:
- If you need clarification, ask it in the comment box above.
- Better answers use proper spelling and grammar.

Go to the manufacturer's support website and download the latest BIOS update for your motherboard. Follow the instructions in flashing the BIOS carefully.
Then you have to remove the covers (back and front) of your archos. Then melt the tin that retains the battery cables with a soldering iron. Then melt the tin again to fix the new battery cables to the motherboard and you're all set. I did it this very morning without problems.
I sen't you a solution didn't you get it?
If your archos 605 is in recovery mode I beleave the firmware(software) would need to be reloaded.
Here is the firmware for the 4GB version of the device, the page has instructions on how to load the firmware. Click on "how to install firmware" for step by step instructions.
Take the battery off, and to the left of the battery connetion tabs is a small gold button, push and hold for 10 seconds. It should start up after doing this.
Here is the link to the user manual for your player;
http://www.archos.com/support/download/manuals/EN_User_Manual_Gmini200_v121.pdf
This link gives the FAQ's for your model;
http://www.archos.com/support/customer_support/faq/en/faq_Gmini220.html?country=us&lang=en
and says this;
"What kind of batteries does my Gmini220 use and how can I replace them?
The Archos Jukebox Multimedia uses a factory installed Lithium Ion battery.
If the duration of a full charge seems very low, please contact customer service at the following address for US ([email protected]) or the following address for Europe ([email protected]).
Please Note: Do not attempt to change the batteries, this could cause damage to your Jukebox and void your warranty."
Hope this helps :)
The batteries put a lot of stress on some solder joints, causing them to break. Not charging is one symptom. Go to rockbox.com and look for detailed instructions on fixing it.
