Hi,

If you are wiring a Kenwood KDC-MP638U to a 2000 Ford Mustang, then below information may be of help:

  • to my knowledge, the original stereo unit uses 2 8pin connector and a single 7 pin connector;
  • if the connector with the harness has been cut, then wire splicing may have to be used based below;

  • If you are using external amplifiers, then it is possible to trigger/switch them with the blue/white wire and their RCA INputs connected to the appropriate RCA OUTputs of the Kenwood;

  • Additionally, the KDC-MP638U has built-in USB port/interface.
  • Incidentally, if what was previously installed is a full Mach system, pls be informed that there are seven (7) versions from Mach 1000.0 to Mach 1000.7, which one was installed?
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

    Hi again,

        Manual for the Kenwood KDC-MP638U is here.

        I could not locate a 2000 Mach 1000 system. perhaps you can try reference a 2003 here.

If you've replaced your unit for another one and with the new one still you have the same problem, something wrong with your electrical car system or both units doesn't work.
But please can you be more specific to help you out better in this issue?

I don't believe there is a separate fuse for the high-mount brake light. Never was on older cars, that brake light is just spliced into the rear brake lights. Have you checked the bulb?

Dust is your enemy here, as well as cigarette smoke. Try a cheap CD head/eye cleaner. the one you want has a fabric coated face, and is available at Costco, Walmart or Radio Shack. You will need to use it several times before you see results.
