I'm really frustrated my computer dosen't recognize my Samsung SC-D453. It is telling me I need a disk or something. I'm trying to edit video on windows moviemaker and I only have a USB cord. I do have a connection for the 1394 (just not the cord) will that make a differance? I got the camera from a friend and don't have any disk software for it. Can I buy this if I have to have it.
You need a driver for that to be able to recognize your camcorder on your computer.
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/download/supportDown.do?group=camerascamcorders&type=camcorders&subtype=minidv&model_nm=SCD453&language=&cate_type=all&dType=D&mType=UM&vType=R&prd_ia_cd=04020100&disp_nm=SCD453
after you download the driver, install it to your pc and it should be recognizable after you done it.
as for editing, windows moviemaker is a good software for editing but i prefer to use Ulead Movie maker, Ulead Producer or anything about Ulead because its so easy to use for editing and saving a movie or video files from your camcorder. you can also use your usb for connecting the interface with your camcorder and pc. hope that helps you and thank you for using fixya. dont forget to rate thanks!

I have the same problem. I installed the driver you suggested, but when I open Ulead, I still cannot capture the video I have in the camera. Any suggestions??
