Hey,

I have the same problem and I found this fix in a service manual. It worked, but my tape motor adjustment is off. So be carefull.
The 3v dc is easy to make, connect 2 batteries 1.5v in serial, you get 3V dc.
Let me know how it goed.

SOURCE: Camcorder broken -How do I remove tape?

I saw a little wheel in there, so I took a pointy scissor and turned it. Closed and re-opened the tape door, and it popped out!

I have a sony dig 8 trv340 and am receiving an error code of c31:42 what does this mean?

Hi,

In DCRTRV430 Camcorder, the C:31:42 error message is a Self diagnostic display. This message can be clearly identified by the help of a Sony Authorized service technician. Each of these codes indicates the symptoms and resolutions of the Camcorder. In C:31:42, the issue is with the tape and the tape mechanism.

I suggest that you remove and reinsert the tape to check if it helps. You may also try inserting new tapes in the Camcorder. Please remove the battery and/or power cable, connect, and perform operations from the beginning. You may also try resetting the Camcorder back to factory default after removing the tape.

To Reset the Camcorder, perform the steps below:

? Please open the LCD screen to locate the RESET button.

? To reset the Camcorder, press the RESET button using a sharp-pointed object.

? Please make sure that the Camcorder is turned on while pressing the reset button.

Also, try turning off the Camcorder and remove the battery pack. Then move the 'Power Switch' of the Camcorder to the ON position

for 1 minute. After about 1 minute, move the 'Power Switch' to the OFF position.

Now reinsert the battery, turn on the Camcorder and check whether it is working fine.

Thanks.

Sony ccd-trv43 showing c:32:00?

Error Code = C:32:00 - Tape will not eject... I found that the Camcorder ate the tape and the tape was rapped all up inside the Camcorder, preventing the tape from ejecting. I took the Camcorder entirely apart and removed the tape manually and re-assembled the Camcorder. When finished there were no extra parts or screws and my Camcorder works perfectly once again. However, I DO NOT RECOMMEND this procedure if you are not confidant that you can disassemble and re-assemble your Camcorder.

Canon es900 8mm camcorder won't allow tape insertion

Canon ES series camcorder was designed with 1000 hour capacitors on the processor boards. When the time comes these capaictors loose value and create problems for the main computer to communicate with other mechanical system in the camcorder. We were able to service well 7 years ago but the life of these component has aged too much to make it good anymore. I wish I have a better news for you but the success repair on 'ES model is very slim and if repaired, the labor charge may run many times over of the value of this camcorder. You can probably obtain a newer used camcorder at decent price and get all you tapes into DVD quick. Good luck -James

My camcorder tape door won't close

Try removing the battery for a few seconds, and then re-inserting. This seems to reset something on my DCR-TRV20, and it starts closing properly.

Remove tape error message

  1. Condensation is detected – If condensation is detected by the camcorder, the “Remove the Cassette” warning may occur.
  2. Component failure – If an electrical or mechanical component in the camcorder fails, the safety mode may activate to prevent any further damage to the camcorder.
  3. Sand or grit damage – The camcorder’s tape drive mechanism consists of many tiny gears. Sand or grit can cause a gear to jam and stop turning. This will cause the camcorder's safety mode to activate.
  4. Impact damage – If a camcorder is accidentally dropped or bumped against a hard surface, it is possible that a misalignment of the tape drive mechanism may occur.
  5. Liquid damage – If either the camcorder or the tape is exposed to water or any other liquid, a variety of malfunctions may result. Please avoid this situation.
  6. Improper videotape insertion – If a tape is forced into the cassette compartment, or if the cassette compartment is pressed down while the tape is loading, damage may occur to the tape drive mechanism. Please refer to the User's Manual.
  7. Damaged or defective tape – If a tape becomes damaged, please discontinue its use.
Operational Recovery Steps
Depending on the conditions that caused this message to appear, it is possible that the camcorder operation may recover. Please follow these steps:
  1. Eject the videotape
Insert a new or known good videotape. If the message does not persist, it is possible that the tape was damaged. If the camcorder still displays the message with a new tape, please proceed to step 2.
  2. If condensation had been detected causing the Remove the Cassette warning, remove the cassette, and allow at least one hour for the moisture to dry.
