Denon dvd-2900 suddenly has music and background sound but no dialogue

Whether I get the sound via scart to TV, or separately though home cinema multi-channel system, there is no dialogue.

Have checked - no subtitles. Tried a different scart cable, no improvement. Checked different DVDs, no change. However, I now get dialogue when I play the audio through my 5.1 sound system, but still no dialogue through Tv (with scart).

I'm no expert on the inner workings or how simple or complicated the problem is. But, is there another scart port or component audio port you could try perhaps? failing that, how about connecting sterio audio from the dvd player to something like an ipod or mp3 player to see if that works? As i say these may be rudimentary solutions that you've already considered.

basically, i'm tryig to assess whether it's definitely your dvd player that is not working or if the tv may play a part

I got it. As suggested by many, it is the absence of a central speaker when I connect to the TV. I changed the DVD player audio output setting from 5.1 to 2 and voila. Many thanks for your help and suggestions.

Is there subtitles instead of the dialogue? Sorry, may be an obvious thing that you have already checked.

A wiring Schematic is not that you should be looking. What you need is large feeders to understand hot to connect to various ports to give your desired output.

No sound through the Panasonic cinema surround sound on TV

Had a similar problem mate. I solved it by connecting the tv to the PT460 system with a scart lead. You then have to have the AV channel selected on the PT460 system to listen to the tv. You will always have to have the AV channel on the PT460 selected to listen to any sound transmitted through the tv - be it playstation/xbox or any other device that you may connect in the future with HDMI leads or otherwise. Hope this helps

No picture on TV through Sky, Home Cinema is on but have sound.

do have sound and picture at same time you will need a fibre optical cable, you connect that from your cinema system to your tv. then you need to set your cinema system to digital input or fibre optic or check by pressing aux on your remote and see which is the right one. i am not familier with panasonic as i have samasung.

Trying to install a new 50

a good way to go is to connect the home cinema kit staight to the tv though phono leads, see if your tv has a phono in and out this must not be a av socket. you should then connect it in to your cinema kit so what ever you watch comes though ur cinema system

hope this helps

Not playing voice but playing music/surround

sounds like you may have a dodgy scart lead.check that none of the pins are loose/damaged. Also check the sound settings on the tv, it may have reset itself to the default sound setting. Or it might just be the audio settings on your dvd player have been adjusted, almost all dvd movies have there own audio adjustments.

Not getting sorround sound from my tv

only the hd channels get great surround sound. if your tv has an optical audio out and your surround has the optical in input. then i suggest buying a fiber optic wire for the audio you'll hear a big differance. just hope that the audio stays in sync unlike my cheap *** koss system

Hook up

well u cannot hook almost any devices with the SC-HT500.
I have this homecinema system for 5 years now, and i had to buy another stand alone DivX player to hook it up, but can't get the sound in dolby from the standalone player since the panasonic SC-HT500 has only 2 analog stereo RCA ports (audio in) in the back and a scart (A/V out) and component video (Video out).
At that time it was a very good system, but since i have bought a Full HD LCD tv with 1080p capabilities, I realised that my home cinema system i.e the Panasonic SC-HT500 is kind of useless, in the sense that you cannot even change the player for another one since the whole spaker and power connections are made trhough a special cable from the subwoofer. :(
best solution is that put the system back in a corner and get a new system which is not an all-in-one system. Preferrable get home cinema systems that come with a receiver, separate dvd player and speakers and subwoofer hooked to the receiver.
you asked how to hook these devices to your tv,, well the panasonic dvd recorder is better if you connect it via HDMI cable if you can. In the other case, connecting them with a scart cable would be another solution.

If you have a later Philips home cinema model: HTS3100, 3300, 3500, 3154, 3357, 6510 & others, the sound from the TV will go through the existing scart connection.

Just select TV on the home cinema remote control.

For any other models, use a scart - twin phono lead (red & white), from the TV to one of the inputs into the home cinema.

Scarts 1 & 2 on the TV will have different results. Try both.
