Maybe..that download and upload speed is controlled by your internet service providor. call them and enquire about the effective speed that they can deliver.

The speed depends of the network traffic, and your broadband bandwith. Try downloading from different places and check the velocity. You can check your speed here:

http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

If your speed still is bad, check your network connection, call your provider for support and replace your network card may be is the cause of your issue.

High speed dsl down load speed is supposed to be 3.0mbps download----.384kbps upload--but all i can get is .320kbps download speed---what is the problem?

this will depend on your internet connection whether wireless ethernet or dial up

When your ISP offers you a 1Mb connection, its megaBits not MegaBytes.

So for a rough guide of how MUCH you can download, divide by eight. i.e. 1Mb speed = 128KB of data.

So its normal for you to get 1.0-1.10 mbps download speed for the 10MBps connection that you have

you might need software if you want to speed your downloads up http://download.cnet.com/getgo-download-manager/3000-2071_4-10277023.html

hope this heps

HOW I INCREASE DOWNLOADING SPEED BY 10MBPS

Contact your Internet Service Provider, and give them more money per month, and you'll get faster downloads.

Of course, this assumes that the file-server from which you are downloading is capable of sending as fast as you want to receive -- some servers are "busy", or deliberately are "capped", to limit the speed per connection to the server.

I have broadband internet connection on my computer. the download speed that it shows is 100mbps; whereas i get only 20mbps. how do i get a higher speed of downloading.

hey , this is always the case.
if it shows 100 mbps does not mean you will get 100mbps download speed.as far as i know no internet connection provides 100mbps download speed.

however a little improvement can be made in the speed by optimising your settings .
you may use Modem Booster , download accelerator for this purpose.
if you do lot of downloading download idm(internet download manager).to accelerate your download.

one thing i should add for your knowledge.understand the difference between mbps and MBps.B stands for byte and there are 8 bits in a byte so take a conversion factor of 8.this is a general misconception among people and whilie downloading note that the speed is shown in B and not b.

Hello there,

The 54Mbps is your internet speed.

The 100Mbps is your maximum connection speed (meaning from PC to router)

Network speed.

the speed of the network adaptor is 100mps but the system speed is constrained by the maximum speed that your broadband provider.

What is the rated speed of the internet connection to your home? this will be the limiting factor.
