EPSON STYLUS R1800 GENERAL ERROR

Hi there,

I have a problem with my r1800,

The automatic sheet feeder is not able to feed the paper into the printer. It take the paper in and then ejects the paper. May be after 50 tries it is able to feed the paper correctly. I tried cleaning the '****** Roller' and vaccum cleaning the feeding path but it didn't help at all. Now on top of that when I get lucky and am able to feed on sheet of paper when I send a print job to the printer, both red LEDs keep flashing and I receive a 'general error' which advises me to cancel all print jobs, switch off the printer and take out any foreign object from the printer. I inspected the open areas carefully and I'm 100% sure there is no foreign object (i.e. paper debris) inside. Since I live in Iran and there's no official Epson service centre here, I managed to find the service manual and cleaned the waste ink pads. I also tried to clean the accessible sensors too "carefully of course" ! I didn't have the guts to open the sheet feeder to clean its sensor too, since it requires a dangerously big amount of disassembly. However I tried to wash it with a contact cleaner spray from the top. I also noticed that the sealing rubbers on the top of ink purging system are full of ink residue and I carefully opened that part and washed it with alcohol. This is my second problem: I disconnected 4 thin tubes that were connected to the sealing rubbers and now that I want to put them back I cannot remember in which sequence they were connected. I searched in the service manual, but it seems that the "inking system assemly" is a closed part sold as a whole so there's no mentioning of sealing rubbers and tubes. So here I am, hesitated to reassemble the printer without being sure that I have connected the tubes in the right order... Any suggestions for these problems? :)

Those generic refills are not worth i, plus they may void the warranty. Try removing them and cleaning the little circuit board sensor. Make sure leaked ink hasnt covered them.

Hello.

Yes ... there is an Epson Service utility. It's software that you download and run that could solve the problem that you are experiencing. Here's the link:

http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml

Scroll to the bottom of the screen an select "I agree with all above statements ...". Save the file to your desktop. Then, run the file.

Hope this resolves your problem.

Paper not feeding for epson nx400

Check the following:

  • • If paper doesn't feed, remove it from the sheet feeder. Reload it against the right side, behind the tab, then press in the tab on the edge guide and slide it against the paper. Make sure the paper is not above the arrow mark inside the edge guide.

  • • If multiple pages feed at once, remove the paper from the sheet feeder, fan the edges to separate the sheets, then reload it.

  • • If the paper doesn't eject fully, you may have set the wrong paper size. Press the c:\users\home\appdata\local\temp\msohtmlclip1\01\clip_image001.gif Stop button, then open the scanner and remove the paper. Select the correct paper size when you reprint.

  • • If it's wrinkled when it ejects, the paper may be damp or too thin. Load new paper.

  • • Make sure you use new, smooth, high-quality paper, that is not curled, creased, old, or too thin. Make sure to load it printable side up.

  • • Do not load paper with holes punched in it for insertion in a binder.

  • • Make sure you load only up to the recommended number of sheets. If you're printing on both sides of the paper, try loading fewer sheets.

• If the paper jams, do the following:

1. Gently pull any jammed paper out from the output tray or sheet feeder.

2. To eject the jammed paper, try turning the Epson Stylus NX400 off and then back on.

If that doesn't work and paper is stuck inside, turn off the Epson Stylus NX400. Open the scanner, remove the jammed paper and torn pieces, close the scanner, and turn the Epson Stylus NX400 back on.

Epson Stylus R1800 refuses to accept art paper through the single sheet feeder at the rear When loading the paper the unit will pull it into the correct location and then on print command it backs the...

First check to see if there any any bits of paper stuck by checking the front and the rear feeder.
Also consult your manual to see if it accepts that thickness of paper.
It can be found here:
http://files.support.epson.com/pdf/r1800_/r1800_ug.pdf
The steps in the manual to clear a jam are on page 89 and types of accepted paper are on page 11.
Hope this helps.

Hello can you assist I can not figure out why the CX8310 Epson printer won't allow me to feed paper into it.

  • If paper doesn't feed, remove it from the sheet feeder. Reload it against the right edge, behind the tabs, then slide the left edge guide against the paper. Make sure the paper is not in front of the feeder guard.
  • If multiple pages feed at once, remove the paper from the sheet feeder, fan the edges to separate the sheets, then reload it.
  • Don't load too many sheets at once (up to 20 sheets of photo paper, 80 sheets of Premium Bright White paper, or 100 sheets of plain paper).

There are black ink smudges on the bottom corners and edges of my color prints on velvet fine art paper. How can I stop that from happening. I already cleaned the heads twice. The prints are great...

The R2400 has an option to load paper on-top (Epson calls it the Automatic Document Feeder) and at the back. Based on the printer's User Guide the Velvet Fineart Paper should be loaded at the back. (Epson called is the Manual Single Sheet Feed).

Look at the User's Guide availabe on their website.

    Epson stylus c68 paper jam

    Hi Guest.

Turn your printer off and load a single sheet of paper. Move the rubber wheel to anywhere. Turn the printer on and watch what happens in the paper feed slot (in official Epson parlance this is the "automatic sheet feeder" or ASF). You should see the rubber wheel etc set into the correct start postion. Then press the paper feed button and watch again. The plastic "wall" behind the piece of paper should move forward, pushing the sheet into the rotating rubber wheel. This should feed the paper into the "ready to print position". If this doesn't happen, it means something has come adrift inside the paper feed system. To investigate this further requires the printer to be dismantled. Either take it to a technician, or if you want to have a go at doing this yourself, post a new comment to this effect and I will help you do this.

Clean the rollers down where the paper sets in the printer. Do not use cheap generic matte coated paper. Some generic matte coated paper will leave a film on your rollers and cause them to not grip the paper.

Epson R1800 refuses fine art papers

Hi Fruitless, Last night I was tearing my hair out trying to get my R1800 to accept some Hahnemuhle Satin 310, and it was just passing through and passing through. About once in 20 trys it would finally print. I was in the middle of making up my own paper profiles for this lovely paper. Anyway, I gave up at about 1:30 am, and went to bed. Today I resumed my attack, and guess what fella, there is a solution. Pass this on to everyone. You did not say what version of Photo Shop you were using. I just got my CS3 a week ago, and if you are using it, you can open a photo for printing. Go to Printing Preferences Dialog Box, > click on Maintenance Tab, and then click on the Bottom button that is labeled as Printer & Options Information. The Printer and Options Dialog Box opens, and there at the bottom is a box that says Thick Paper right beside it. Select or check this box and enjoy yourself thereafter. I did not see this in the User's Guide, but knew there had to be an answer to this problem somewhere. No problems ever since. Best of luck.
