Panasonic remotes have two channels. Press OK and simultaneously 1 and hold for more than five seconds. Then try to power up using the remote. If that doesnt work press OK and 2 and hold. One of those will control the machine. Make sure you have good batteries in the right way.
Hello Check the remote control for its infrared emission. If it is found OK, and still your device does not respond to remote control, the infrared sensor inside your device is faulty and should be replaced. Just enter into the following link. You can understand how a remote control can be repaired or cleaned. Do this first. The remote sensors can be located just behind the infrared sensor window of your device. You have to open your device to access it.
You can try changing the command mode of the (genuine Panasonic) remote itself, press and hold [ ENTER/OK ] and the number [ 3 ] button together for 5 - 10 seconds, then release. Then try the remote with the unit. If it still shows DVD 3 on its display, no matter which button is pressed, reset the main unit to factory default as outlined in the user manual (assuming this model recorder has a tuner, there would be channel buttons on the front - try pressing and holding [ CH/UP ] and [ CH/DOWN ] together - for 5 - 10 seconds, until 'SETUP' appears, then release). This may or may not restore your DVD unit to the default (DVD 1) command mode. (Don't forget to reset the remote back to DVD 1 if you do reset the main unit - press and hold [ ENTER/OK ] + the number [ 1 ] button together as above).
Your new remote may be set to DVD 1 by default while your unit is DVD 3 = different remote command modes.
ok you need to press STAR Button which says mode above it and either 1,2 or 3 to find which freqency is being use. The dvd and the remote need to be on the smae on.
OK..I see the problem now.. Basically, you have to set both the remote and the recorder to the same command mode. (Default id DVD3). Please see the user manual I have posted in your premium query. It will tell you how to do this on page 22.
