I dont have my USB card with me at work - is there a way to transfer photos on the Built in Memory to the memory card that I have in it now?

Had exact same problem. Here the solution:
Choose playback, then "Mode" button will bring you Slide show options menu. Navigate to Image/Sound Copy Item.
You'll find options to copy from/to internal memory/flash card there

I suggest you get a memory card reader for your PC or Mac, sometimes, the built-in card reader or USB mass storage function of your camera bugs out and causes your computer to freeze up, this is due to the driver probably messing up.
Having a separate card reader for your cameras memory card will be useful and fast when making backups of your photos, and seldom causes hang-ups. A memory card reader easily attaches to your USB or firewire port too...

The quickest way to do that is to attach the camera with a USB to the computer directly without any card inserted. Then click Start/My Computer and your internal memory folder should appear as an external memory along with C: D: etc.
There may be also a similar way using the software provided by Canon when you bought the camera?. Hope this works.
