Adjust first the screen. it is a knob at the back of plyback.(lower knob),if the has vertical line ,then the section had a problem.try to resolder the vertical IC or else change the IC.

you can open the back of the tv and see if it blew the fuse but watch out for the flyback anoid it still holds power if you don't know what that is it the thick red wire that plugs into yhe tube so DON'T UNPLUG IT FROM THE TUBE you will get a big charge and the fuse should be near the flyback and if it still dosen't work the the output IC is probley fried.
There is sound coming from the tv speakers though? I had the same problem with my top of the line 7 channel surround sound theatre system. Its not that there is anything wrong with the sound system but that you may need to plug the Audio cord into the external device IE: cable box. Mine works strictly for the dvd function of my system because of this.
the panel is bad. if just purchased QUICKLY take it back. usually covered under manufactur warranty. next time stick with name brand tv. they dont make spare parts for the no name brand they just replace with new one. DONT GET RCA eighther. hope that helps.
Hi and welcome to fixya,
it is the colour wheel problem,,,,,,,,,this is common problem please check it ...it may be also cathode ray tube...
thank u.........
try turning the channel up or down with the tv remote to input 1 or 2 depending on which one is being used for the dvd player. tv should use input 1. dvd should be on input 2.
when turning the channel set it to show the dvd screen, then go up 1. if it doesn't show, return and go down 1.
