I received a fax this morning and it was fine. I tried to print a paper and it would not print the page. I canceled the print job but it says "print" on the printer screen. I tried to copy and it scanned the paper but would not copy. Screen says "copying". I hit the stop button and it went back to saying "printing". I have unplugged the printer and turn off the computer and rebooted. Nothing helps.

Hi
I recently had this problem - tested fuser and all sensors.
The fix is to reset the memory.
To do this, enter the Maintenance mode. Menu, * 2864
(enter the number quickly)
then type 01 ( zero one ), this will reset all memory including the user settings.
Finally type 99 to exit Maintenance mode.
The printer will restart and the error will be gone. Test out with copy and printer reports
Hoping this fixes your problem
Regards
Lindsay
SOURCE: Brother MFC-8440, send fax ok, but no receiving fax
Hi,
The manual has step by step instructions, I'll include a link for the online version. Section four runs through setting up recieving, if it's on a dedicated line follow the first set of instructions to set up automated answering. If it's a shared line(phone/fax) then continue down to the next section.
Note: for a shared line you may need to contact your line provider for a second number that has a "dedicated ring"

Hope this helps FixYa,

SOURCE: I am a first time user of the scan function. Brother MFC 8440.
Hi there
I myself would just scan the one first and send it to your PC and then scan the other part and send it to your pc and then just copy the first 1 in to the Microsoft word program and then copy the second one and past it into first under it so it becomes as 1 then upload it to your email and send, this is what I do.
Or of cause you can upload 1 first to your email then upload the other one to your email and send.

Usually answered in minutes!
After choosing premium on here and going through the same things for 30 minutes.. I found my paperwork from Brother and called them (should have done that first). Brother fixed it in 2 seconds. Told me to unplug it, hold stop button, plug back in while continuing to hold the stop button.. viola.. I can copy and print again.
Thanks for the solution, I had already figured that out by calling the maker of the printer and posted it here more than two weeks prior.
Thanks I worked for me too!
