The line voltage may be low. it is possible the bulbs are too great of a wattage for the motion circuit or branch wiring. It is also possible the relay got wet and formed a layer of crud between the contacts that has some resistance.

If they are not shutting off completely, the relay may have some corrosion built up on a contact providing a circuit path.

If another pair of bulbs behave the same way, it is time to replace the unit.

Lights flash on and off

Very common issue with motion sensing lights. You can either replace the light sensor which is available at most hardware stores or you can disable the motion sensing feature and just have an on-off light. To disable the sensor, (turn off the power!) unscrew and remove the light sensor (it is the reposition-able box under the light.) It depends on the particular light, but you usually just match up the wire coming into the light from the house and the wire from the bulbs and connect them with a wire-nut.

Lights flash on/off non-stop, until reset, then does it again. model SL-5408 GR-B

Have you reset the controls on the sensor itself. Suggest you reinstate factory settings and start over.
Hope this helps.

Light does not turn off in daylight

When photo cell lights do not turn off during the day, this is more often than not an issue with the detector and or the relay module. Try climbing on a ladder and check if the lights module can be accessed with a small screw driver or pried open with a flathead tweeker. If you have a digital multimeter, look for where the module gets it power from. Normally the module is DC voltage, but depending on the manufacturer, nothing is normal. Also check for debris and the exterior lens (where the light strikes the sensor) is not weathered so back that it deflecting light. If it is dark, light cannot enter the sensor thus not allowing the unit to shut off.

Hope This Helps!

WHEN ON DIM THE LIGHT FLICKERS

That is because the dimmer is designed for incondescent lights and you are using compact fluorescent. To solve the flickering problem add at least one regular bulb to the system. If there is only one bulb then replace with a regular bulb if you are using a dimmer.

When I dim the light it starts flickering--I have a 3 way TG 600PH-WH

Check rating plate on device, or rating that shows in product manual.
Also if the dimmer does not need neutral wire to power the device, then it will be rated for incandescent-only, and not be rated for CFL
This dimmer is for incandescent light only up to 600 watts, and will not work as expected for CLF bulbs etc

Cannot get light to go on and then off at programmed time. Stays on. At cottage with no neighbours or ambient light. Installed professionally, not by myself. Frustrated many efforts before contacting...

Light stays on all the time: Turn power to light off. Wait 10 seconds. Turn power back on.
Typical option on motion lights: Quick power flick -- light stays on. Slow power flick -- light goes into motion sensing mode.
Hopefully the professional installer gave you a switch.

We installed the new fourescent bulbs in our can lighting...some work great..other flicker for no apparent reason...does it have to do with the settings?

You can not dim compact fluorescent lamps. The ballast for the fluorescent is built into the bottom of the lamp. IF the manufacture says that it is dimmable, then you would need a special interface (Lutorn FDBI) to make it work properly. It may work for a short while with out it, but will burn out the ballast or dimmer.
