How to check voicemail messages

I assume you mean voicemail messages taken by voicemail service on your telephone line, the ones indicated by a flashing "voicemail" indicator on the phone. You may need to contact your service provider as not all systems are the same, but here's how it usually works. From your home phone, dial your own number so that the voicemail answers. Press the "*" button and you'll be prompted to enter your passcode. (The default passcode is usually the last 4 digits of your phone number, and you enter a new one when you go through mailbox setup.) Once you've entered the passcode and are in the voicemail system, voice prompts guide you through how to access messages and make setup changes. To process is usually the same to check your messages when you're away, although some service providers may give you a different access number to call. Again, check with your service provider for all the details if your system is different.

I have lost my manual and I don't know how to retrieve my messages from another phone when I'm away from home.

Which model of Uniden phone do you have? Do you remember the PIN that you have programmed into the phone? (If the PIN is not set, you can't access the answering system remotely. The Uniden phones that I know don't have a default PIN.)

For the DCT648, to access the messages remotely, dial your phone number and wait for the system to answer. Press 0 followed by your 2 digit PIN (within 2 seconds of pressing zero) while the greeting is playing. To play back all of the messages, press 0 2. If the unit is off, then you need to press 0 followed by your PIN (within 2 seconds) after 10 rings and the beep. Press 0 6 to turn on the unit.

Other Uniden phones use a 4 digit PIN. On the DECT1080, when the greeting plays, press * followed by the PIN. Then press 01 to play back the messages.

Uniden phone manuals are available at the product page (start at http://www.uniden.com and search for your phone) or from the Support page ( http://www.uniden.com/scat/cordlessphones_mnl ) . On the support page, you will need to use the drop down menu to change the type of phone (if you have a DECT phone) and then search through the pages. The manuals are listed in numerical and alphabetical order. One manual will cover several phones if the phone supports multiple handsets. So ignore the number after the dash if you can't find your exact manual.

If you add a comment with your phone's model number, I'll be glad to check the specifics for accessing the answering system for you.

I hope this helps.

Even though my answering machine indicates it is on, noone can leave a message. The response is that the mailbox has not been set up.Can you help? Thank you.I have had this system for quite a while and have...

A "mailbox not set up" message is coming from your telephone line voice mail system, and not from your telephone answeringmachine. What this means is that the voice mail on the phone line is picking up before the answering machine has a chance, and since the mailbox hasn't been set up it can't take any messages. So there are two things you'll need to do.

First, you'll need to set up your voice mail. You may need to contact your telephone service provider for setup instructions since not all systems are the same, but here's how it usually works. From your home phone, call your own number so you reach your voice mail. You should get the message that your mailbox hasn't been set up, and will be prompted for an access code to get to the setup menu. The access code is usually the last four digits of your phone number, and you'll be prompted to change it to something else as part of the setup. Through the setup main menu you can record your greeting and set up other options like the ring count before the voice mail answers. Set it for a number larger than the setting on your telephone answering machine. (I have my answering machine set to 4 rings, and voicemail set to 6.)

Step two is to verify the ring setting on your answering machine. Four rings is a common default setting, but it's adjustable on the phone. Most newer phones have menus that you access from the handset to set change settings, while older models have a switch on the base unit.

Once the mailbox is set up and you have your answering machine set to pick up first, everything will work as you want.

GE 21008GE2 2.4GHz Dual-Handset Cordless Telephone. Lost manual. Need to know how to access my answering machine messages from another phone out side of the house.

You can download the manual at
http://www.home-electronics.net/USER-GUIDES/21008_DOM_ES_CL_IB.pdf

The 21008GE2 is a phone, not an answering machine. It doesn't store messages that can be accessed from the phone or another phone.

If you want to access messages on an answering machine, you'll have to tell us the make and model of the answering machine.

How do I access messages away from home?

You'll need to visit AT&T's support site and download the manual for your phone to get full details, but all phones with remote capability work basically the same way. You call your phone number, and when your message starts playing you enter a code number. After that it's a matter of entering other codes to play messages, delete them, record a new announcement and so on. Some systems provide voice prompts; with others you might need to carry a reference card until you learn the codes. Your phone's manual will tell you what's what for your model.

Hi, when I try to send a message, it says error. I have a full signal and can recieve messages. Just before this happened, when I tried to send a message, a box came up saying 'service centre'...

Your message centre number has probably been tampered with.
If as little as a number is deleted from this number, your messages wont send.
To access your message centre number, go to
Messages > Settings > Sending profile > 'Your profile' > Message centre number.
Then check that the number is correct. If you do not know the number, crosscheck it on another phone with a similar network. This message centre number is unique to each network provider.
When you have corrected it, 'ok' your correction and try resending your message.

Hope that helped?
Have a nice day.
