I understand that you are receiving an E31 error code on your Electrolux washer, model# EW1000i. In researching the model number you provided, I show that this was manufactured in the UK. For North American washers, I would suggest resetting you appliance, by either unplugging it or shutting the power off at your home's circuit breaker, for 3-5 minutes. You can try this, and if it does not work, I suggest contacting the manufacturer directly, for further assistance. They should be able to tell you what the E31 means, as well as assist in clearing it. Hope this is helpful.
Try unpluging for a few minutes . wake the washer up by turning knob then at the same time press and hold start cancel error will display . take off top and you will find a tech sheet on left side and that should help. you can manually unlock the door after taking top off and reach down to door lock you will feel a plastic switch to pull
It would seem that these newer washers respond much like a computer. If you have not tried it, and this works for multiple error messages, unplug your machine, wait ten minutes and plug back in. Often this resets the board and your error will not reappear.

E30 or E31= Motor Drive Problem - Run the programme again, if problem persists call for a Service Engineer.
I will tell you a secret. Try unplugging the washer for 5 minutes and then we will see if this has reset the system! like rebooting your computer.Some times it is only a glitch and no mechanical problems are there! If so you saved a service call.
