How do I re-set after a paper jam hp psc 1200?

Verify that the print cartridge door is closed.
The print carriage may be jammed, follow these steps to correct the problem:
1.
Open the print cartridge access door. If the print carriage can move, it should move to center. If the print carriage stays all the way left, unplug the power cord and then plug it back in. This will reset the unit and may allow the print carriage to move from the left.
2.
Disconnect the power cord from the all-in-one.
3.
Remove both print cartridges.
4.
Move the print carriage left and right slightly to verify that the print carriage will move freely. If the print carriage will not move freely, check for obstructions.
5.
Close the print cartridge access door.
6.
Plug the power cord back in.
7.
After the all-in-one initializes, the print cartridge light will flash. Open the access door and install the print cartridges.
8.
Close the print cartridge access door. If the problem returns, remove the print cartridges and wipe the electrical contacts before reinstalling them.
*
Try to make a copy. If the all-in-one pulls in paper but cannot make a copy, there may be a problem with the scanner mechanism. Contact HP for assistance.

If that doesn't work, maybe try this too:

Clearing paper jams
Paper jams can occur for a variety of reasons but are usually paper related. Follow the steps below to clear the paper jam:

1.
Turn off the all-in-one and unplug the power cord. With the power off, the paper feed rollers will turn.
2.
Open the rear access door of the all-in-one by pressing in on the left side of the access door and then pulling it toward you.
NOTE: All paper jams must be removed by pulling the paper out the back of the all-in-one using the rear access door. Pulling the paper out the front of the all-in-one rotates the paper feed rollers in the wrong direction and can lead to additional problems.

Inspect the pressure rollers on the rear access door and verify that they are clean and turn freely. Clean the rollers if needed with a soft towel lightly moistened with water. If the rollers do not turn freely, replace the rear access door.
*
If under warranty, contact HP to obtain a replacement part.
*
Click How to buy on this page to order replacement parts.
3.
From the rear access door opening, gently pull the jammed paper free.
4.
Remove the remaining paper from the paper supply tray. Discard any paper that is damaged or crumpled and then re-stack and reload the paper into the paper supply tray.
Do not continue to push the paper in after some resistance is felt. If the paper is pushed in too far, more than one page will feed into the all-in-one at a time.
5.
Reattach the rear access door by inserting the two pins on the right of the door into the holes for them and then pressing in gently but firmly on the left side.

6.
Reconnect the power cord to the unit and turn the unit on. Source(s): http://www.castleink.com

I cannot insert the paper tray please help

hello.....

Causes of repeated paper jams If paper jams occur repeatedly, one of the following may be causing them: The paper is being pushed in too far. The paper should only be pushed in until the first resistance. Continuing to push the paper in will force the paper up into the paper rollers and will cause the printer to pull in multiple pages. Obstructions in the paper path. Open the all-in-one (front and back) and check for obstructions.
  • Unlocked rear access door. Follow the steps above to install the rear access door correctly (see Figure 3). If this condition is present, the paper will skew in the all-in-one.
  • The paper guides are not positioned against the paper. Adjust the paper length and width guides so they fit snugly against the paper.
  • Incorrect paper. The paper should be flat and smooth with no folded, torn, or rough edges. Papers with a glossy finish and coated papers may not feed into the unit correctly. Paper that has already been printed on once can also cause problems.
  • Partially installed paper tray. The paper tray must be inserted all of the way into the all-in-one.
  • Dirty paper feed rollers. Over time paper fibers and dust will stick to the rollers and should be removed.. Also verify that the rollers on the rear access door are clean and turn freely.
Check Paper light flashes but there isn't a paper related problem The check paper light may also flash if there are other problems. Verify the following conditions:
  • Verify that the print cartridge door is closed.
  • The print carriage may be jammed, follow these steps to correct the problem:
  • Try to make a copy. If it pulls in paper but cannot make a copy, there may be a problem with the scanner mechanism

Thanks

Error message reads "carriage jam"

The print carriage access door is the large top part of the printer that swings up. If you look in the user guide it is arrowed on page 14.

If you don't have a copy you can download it here:

Carriage jam

I had a "carriage jam" error message.

My son wiped down the metalic strip that tells the carriage where it is. It worked for a couple of days and then the "carriage jam" message came back.

I took my 7210 apart, found nothing wrong with it and put it back together. I noticed that if I pushed the print carriage all the way to the left, closed the lid, and pressed "OK", the print carriage would move a couple of inches to the right. It did this repeatedly. I figured the motor was working, but there was too much friction on the carriage. I put some 3-in-one oil on my finger and put a thin coat on the front, top, and back of the rod that the print carriage rides on. I then ran the carriage back and forth about 20 times. I closed the lid and it works fine.

I had the same problem with my DVD player. The head was hanging up on the two chrome plated rods that supported the head. I put some 3-in-one oil on the rods, ran the head back and forth, and it has worked ever since.
