All the functions to be carried out with the remote control
With the "Power" button turn the player on
Open the tray
Press the "Clear" button
With the numbers keys press
13690
Close the tray
Turn to standby with the "Power" button
This will work but no indication is given on the screen as you do it.
1. switch to DVDmode(tv)
2. Press Setup on remote
3. Press next (on remote) 4 times to open Version Screen, your current region setting should appear in top right corner.
4. Use arrow keys on remote to change to 255 for region free
5. Press Setup on remote
This has worked on the newer ones try this

Are you sure this works?
I ask because I have the DVDH0701 which is an HDMI compliant machine. It doesn't have a 'clear' button!!!! And this fix definately doesn't work with this machine in the configuration I have.
Instead of the clear button, it is marked 'HDMI' and pressing it doesn't have the same effecect, instead changing the HDMI output of the DVD.
I keep seeing this fix all over the web, but also a smattering of people having the same issue as me. Or am I missing something really obvious???
