E-62 error on AJ-D250 points to a cassette housing problem. either replace the cassette housing or have it rebuilt (replace gears on the sides that raise and lower the cassette). "replace belts" won't work - the AJ-D250 doesn't have any belts.

Where does USB from DVC Pro deck to into Mac hard drive?

AJ-D230H doesn't have a USB connection. A firewire interface is an option, but they're very hard to find; have been discontinued by Panasonic.

Digitized picture playing out from Panasonic AJ-D230H

There are several PCB's in the DVC:

Input TBC
Video IO
Audio
Mechanical \ IF
Digital Core
RF
AVSYSCON
backplane

all of these boards have lots of, electrolytic can, surface mount capacitors:
upon researching the MFG specifications of the caps used by Panasonic, i found that they have a lifetime use rating in hours at a given temperature..

3000 hours of use at 100 deg c

these caps dry up and the power supplys get noisy and the caps that are employed in time constant circuit applications function out of spec ( if at all )

For about 3 months have been refurbinshing units successfully by replacing all of these caps

panasonic makes all of thes caps available as a service part kit

however the pcb's are very deleicate

I am only successful because I have 15 years of electronics engineering ecperience..

there is a tool call a Capacitor ERS analyzer ( Equivalt Series Resistance )
a good cap will measure .25 to 2 ohms and anything above 5 ohms is stale

I am getting set up in a new building for serviceing 230's and 255's at first and then i'll expand
I use a electronics assembly house to do the replacment of alll of the cap that go stale.

I have put together caps lists and digikey part #'s and generated my own re-capping kit that is much cheaper that the kit offered bt panasonic.

It acts like the heads are dirty but they have been cleaned

4000 hours is not bad for a clean machine that is fresh

they reset the drum and capstan run time meters when the machine is serviced: so you can have circuit boards that are getting tired.. The boards have lots of Surface Mount Electrolytic Can Capacitors... the parts used are rated for 3000 hours of use at 100 deg Celcius.. they last longer as the temperature goes down..

they have a chemical inside that dries up...

so the machine may need overhaul.

but an old tape can cause this, a worn & dirty pinch roller can cause this also...

DVC recorder

The physical tapes are the same size, but the encoding on the tapes are different. Unless the panasonic recorder can play DVcam, you're out of luck.
