Day after thanksgiving, (year 2008) about to film my girls putting the tree and same E03 as all of you with the camera chewing my tapes. All of my DV cassettes are brand JVC so I know that was not the issue. I read and read and finally decided to grab a flashlight and study how the mechanism move. Then I noticed something suspicious about the right "two little spikes" attached to a white plastic piece that, when close, it moves to the right side of the camera head (the round stainless wheel inside). The white plastic piece mentioned above, part of it came off the guiding tiny little rail. 1. So I opened the tape compartment with an EJECT command, 2. Close it back up with an inmediate unplug of the camera without battery so it will stay in a position where I can get my fingers and paper clip inside. 3. With the paper clip, stretch the guiding rail in such a way that it widens so the bottom of the white plastic thingy can get back in the guiding rail. 4. Put a cassette inside and FFWD, PLAY or RWD and problem fixed.

Email me if you have any questions. Happy filming!

Shows an error of E03

Replacement Parts for Fitness Exercise Equipment at SPORTSMITH

Precor Error 03, Memory, RAM, EEPROM Test Error Probable Cause This error message almost always indicates an upper PCA problem when it is consistently displayed. Failures causing this error message to be displayed are rare.
Corrective Action If the error message is consistently displayed when the unit is powered up, the upper PCA should be replaced. It is possible to see this message displayed intermittently due to external causes. If the units A.C. input significantly dips during the power up test sequence the test could fail resulting in this message being displayed. Treadmills operating on non-dedicated A.C. circuits may see this message displayed on an intermittent basis.

When in play mode the following error appears E03 Remove and reattach battery unit in safe mode

Hi,

As you have already removed the battery and re-attached it, try to clean the contacts between the battery and the camera.

I had tried this and it did not work so I tried Tapping on side of Camcorder ( gently on palm ) and I worked, after 2 or three times while message appeared.

Below are few reasons what causes E03 Error

1. The idler gear does not engage with the reel disk well.
2. Though the idler gear and reel disk are engaged with each other, the tape is not wound because of overload to the mechanism.
3. No FG pulse is output from the reel sensor.
4. No power is supplied to the reel sensor.
5. Tape transport operation takes place with a cassette having no tape inside.
6. The tape slackens and no pulse is produced until the slack is taken up and the tape comes into the normal

Ron

E04

Here's what i found. I was able to clear the message by opening and closing and ejecting the cassette. I also had to play with the battery at the same time. Keeping the cassette door open and then pulling out the battery. After is did this a couple of times i got the message to clear. I too haven't used my camcorder for some time and now that the error message has cleared the camcorder tells me that i need to clean the heads. Hope this helps. Below is the message i found that pointed me toward ejecting the cassette. An error indication (E03 or E04) appears. - (E03 or E04 UNIT IN SAFEGUARD MODE REMOVE AND REATTACH BATTERY) This massage a malfunction of some kind has occurred. In this case the camcorder's functions become unusable. - Eject the cassette once and re-insert it, then check if the indication clears. When it does, you can resume using the camcorder. If the indication remains, consult your nearest JVC dealer or service center
