If there was a power outage the problem is likely in the power supply.

The power light on the front comes on or not?

If no power light unplug the set and follow power cord inside and check the fuses---the click is a power relay activating---set may have up to 3 black relays on the power board.

Let me know your skill level and I will be happy to help.

Sounds like you had a power outage?-- did the lights go dim for a few minutes, before the power actually went out?-- Sometimes, low voltage will cause the compressor motor to over heat-- so it might have to 'cool down'-- What happened next?-- Did you try it again an hour or so later/-- Tell us more-- Mack B

Why is my TV picture dim

Hello David
It sounds that the back light inverter board, and back light CCFL lamps to your TV need to be checked. It will be best to contact any service technician, because to check its back light CCFL lamps, you must disassemble the display panel, a very skilled work indeed. If you are sound in electronics, you can check it. If you wish to know more http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ check this link. It has details. Pull up older posts there by its left side bar, or see it in 'Timeslide' option.

Turned TV off at night. Next day went to turn TV on but it was completely dead. What happened?

If there was a power outage durring the night it is possible that the power supply or the TV mother board could be effected-- even if there was a thunderstorm.
So in this case you can also check to see if the fuse if blown as a protection or that the SMPS is damaged.
Please remove plug remove rear panel to get access to the circuit.
see the link for tips on SMPS repairs.

The clicking you hear is probably caused by a relay that controls the incoming AC to the main power supply. This is a protective reaction to a problem in the power supply itself or an overload due to a failure downstream from the supply. This is not a likely DIY repair. You will probably need a technician to determine which of these two likely problems it is.

this sounds like bad battery conections. take a part the terminals and clean off the corrosion. more than likely the is some corrosion that is hidden and once everything is clean and tight it should fix your problem.

Samsung clicking on and off but not coming on

The bang you heard was probably a capacitor. Since you are still hearing the TV attempt to power on, your power supply and it's fuse are likely fine, but if the capacitor was on the mainboard, the TV would require service unfortunatley.
