Ps3a i have bought an hdmi to dvi cable to connect my ps3 to my tv. My tv is a 42" plasma(relisys) and although moble was only realised in 2006 it does not have an hdmi connection. So i had to get dvi-hdmi cable. When i have connected it i got a great picture however no sound. I have spoke to playstation who advised me to get an optical digital cable. They said dvi will support pictures not sound. i can't seem to find a space in the back of my tv to fit this and the connection on the back of the playstation has plastic on it.

I have had this problem once before and it was because my sound output was was set to the (yellow white red) and so what you have to do is go to Sound Settings then go to Audio Output Settings then what your going to choose is HDMI then it will ask for what method and just select Automatic, then you should be able to here sound threw your tv.

I just came up with the best idea, Ok so you could plug in the regular ps3 cable (yellow white red) and also leave the HDMI cable in as well, and just change your audio output to the ps3 cable, and just have both pluged in, my guess is that this should for sure. :)

How do I connect my PS3 to my sanyo dp50747 in hdmi? I have everything hooked up correctly, but its not coming up on the TV. What do I do?????

If you see a no signal message, then it means that the signal output format of the PS3 does not match . It happens if you have previous used it on another tv and now connected it to a different tv. To resolve this, turn off the PS3 . Press and hold the power button on the PS3 till you hear three BEEPS. The PS3 should automatically detect the tv's resolution and the initial setup screen should appear. After that you should just follow on-screen instructions to set it up.

All picture and no sound

Rick:
simply unplug--then replug--your HDMI cable. Or also go into the audio setup menu and reapply the "automatic" setting for HDMI to get the sound to work. I don't know if Sony can do anything about this or not in a firmware upgrade, but what it can do is try to simplify the labeling on some of the sound settings.

Is the 42" philip plasma

If you really want, you can use an old CRT TV as a monitor provided you get it connected.... so your plasma... YES. If your PC has a DVI port, you could use a DVI - HDMI cable to connect. If your PC does NOT have a DVI port, you could install a video card that does... better yet, get a video card that has a HDMI port. This way, you'll only need a HDMI cable to connect the PC to the TV for audio and video.

There are adaptors available to convert HDMI signal to other standards. You will lose quality in picture and sound but you can get HDMI to RCA converter. If your TV has a DVI is still a digital input so will yield better quality.

PS3 hdmi connection

With your PS3 on standby (red light) hold the on/off button down until it goes green and then back to red. This restores your PS3 to "factory settings", i.e. it is waiting for you to tell it how you want it to connect to your TV. Now disconnect any HDMI cables you may be trying to use and connect your PS3 to your TV via a scart connection. Now switch your PS3 on and turn to your AV channel and you should have both sound and pictures.

Dell w3000 & PS3

This may not be DVI issue.
I connected DVD player HDMI ----> DVI ( Dell W3000) LCD TV.
Later I found that Dell TV version of DVI does not support HDCP protocol ( High Definition Content Protection protocol). So I could not play HDMI to DVI movies from my DVD player instead I use Y Pb Pr -- this works ok.

Hope this helps... I am not use PS3 enforces HDCP - I assume Sony linked with Sony Pictures would enforce HDCP on HDMI cable.
