CLP 300 crumpling lower right hand side of paper

Hi there,

My CLP 300 is only 1 year old, but has started to persistently crumple the lower right hand side of my pages. I moved from a 20 lb weight paper to a 28 lb, but it still happens. Perhaps the right hand roller isn't clean? or it is overheating, causing the paper to crumple? Thanks for your help on this...

There is a foreign object in the paper feed path. It could be anything from a paper clip or staple through to an insect (or worse). It will definitely be on the side where the crumpling occurs. Try feeding a strip of card or thin flexible plastic backwards through the feed mechanism. A laminated sheet of paper can also be effective for this.

SOURCE: Samsung CLP-300 paper feed

Clean the feed roller.
Remove the paper tray, from the bottom there is a grey rubber semi wheel in the middle front of where the paper tray would be. Use a cloth with WD-40, brake cleaner, or lighter fluid to lightly wipe the rubber clean. Put the paper tray back in and it should print.

Second copy is crumpled

You need to isolated a problem.Verify the vertical conveyance feed and clean the feed rollers, verify the fusing unit and a duplex unit, and verify the exit unit.Stop the copy process before the paper enter in the fusing unit, and verify if the paper is crumpled or not.If is crumpled verify the paper tray rollers(casette feed rollers, vertical transport rollers). If not crumpled stop the proces after a half copy is out on the fusing unit.If crumpled change or clean the upper and lower fuser roller and the lower roller cleaning roller(aluminium roller)in the fusing unit.

The paper is crumpled in the lower part of the paper.

Maybe you have problems with the upper fuser roller, open the back door and try to see the upper fuser roller and lower pressure roller if you see any wrinkles or damage in any of the rollers that's is the problem, you can replace them just the upper fuser roller and the lower pressure roller but it will need advanced skills, the other option is change all fuser assembly but at higher price

When printing begins the paper feeds in diagonally and immediately crumples a bit and stops moving.

Take out the paper and look in the paper feeding slot: you will see a metal rod with seven rubber rollers on it. One of them (the one opposite the crumpling) is not catching the paper properly.

Easy to fix reasons are pieces of paper or debris caught in the plastic "teeth" of the mechanism, which stop the paper from being captured, and the whole rod snapped out of one side's retainers (gently pull it back in position until it clicks. The snapped-out side is the one opposite the crumpling).

The debris might also be just inside the feeder slot, so you'll have to use a strong light and hair-tweezers.

Unlikely-to-be-fixable reasons include worn out or defective rollers, severely snapped-out-of-alignment rollers and a warped rod.

You may get the printer to print (if the rod is intact but mysteriously not catching the paper) by keeping the paper upright with two fingers on the sides, so that one side's rollers only are supplying traction and your fingers supply the steadying. Not very satisfactory, but the "hand-feeding" often works.

You may also get some more weeks out of a worn roller by cleaning it carefully with a cotton swab and rubber cleaning fluid (beware not to use a solvent! "Rubber renewing" sprays are usually OK, just spray some on the swab). Sometimes, dust is enough to get an otherwise good roller out of operation; in this case the trick gets you a couple years' time.

Paper get jammed in the automatic feeder on top of my printer

3 possibilities.
1 If you use this macine to copy labels, there may well be a small piece of a label stuck in the paper path on the crumpled side. Or a small bit of paper.
2, the paper pickup on the crumpled side is 'polished', and no longer feeding the paper at the same time as the uncrumpled side. They can be cleaned with rubbing alcohol. Though that is a temporary fix and the paper pickups should be replaced if cleaning fixes the issue.
3 The fuser film has a tear in it on the crumpled side you need to rule out 1 & 2 before going to three again replaceable but a bit more difficult

Paper feed problem-wont go through- crumpling up as it tries to go through

You probably have a piece of paper stuck at the place where it's crumpling. Take a good look and carefully extract it. It may be small, so look hard.
