Garmin Street Pilot c340 mount

My windshield mount kept falling off my windshield. Now I can only power up my Garmin by the USB port and cable on my home computer. Is the mount broken or does something need reseting?

Try a hard reset using the reset button under the silver trim on the front. Pull off the trim ring by hooking your fingernail under it right below the logo.

If that doesn't work, then take the unit off of the mount for a better look at the contacts. Re-seat the mount onto the unit and see if that helped. If the mount is damaged, consider getting a friction mount instead of the suction cup. For about $40 you'd get new power contacts and a new cord, and the unit would sit on your dash instead of falling off the windshield all the time.

All of this is assuming that the problem occurred suddenly after a fall, and that your battery is still good.

The windshield mount for my street pilot c340 does not work and is only two or so months old

Wet the suction cup before you mount it to the windshield. It will work.

My Garmin C340 is dead!!!!

I had the same problem on a trip. Required two fixes and once I did this the unit worked fine.
1. Replace the fuse in the car adapter (reason it wasn't charging when I used it in the car).
2. See the users manual on page 31 regarding resetting your C340.

Garmin street pilot c340 battery appeared low, used USB cable to hook up pilot with my computer but device doesn't appear to turn on, computer cannot locate device on Drivers, can I rechare steet pilot...

I followed the instructions of the Online manual for the Garmin Street Pilot c-340, I removed the faceplate of the Street Pilot and then using my thumb pressed down on the reset button. I then pressed the power on button on the side of the device- the screen lit up, I then plugged one end of the USB cable into my computer and the other end into the device. The information on the screen of the device indicated the Lithium Battery was charging properly.

Have you tried a hardware RESET? The button is hidden behind the front panel, which snaps off by a fingernail slot located directly under the GARMIN logo on the front panel.

* Use caution removing and reinstalling the front panel... it's somewhat fragile... wiggle it a little to get it off.

Press where it says "Press to Reset", hold for a second or two. Charge the unit with the car cord or USB cable, then try to turn it on again.

Once you can get teh unit to (hopefully) turn ON, you should run all updates (there may be several!) using Garmin's Webupdater. (Connect to computer with USB cable first.)

Hope this helps!!

My garmin street pilot 330 will not power on

I've had a couple of Garmin C330 units and a C340. They're good quality except for the flimsy power plugs. My first one out of the box had a defective plug which made intermittent contact when I plugged it into the lighter. Tightening the knurled nut on the tip of the plug helped somewhat, but didn't fix it completely. It became a non-issue after I bought a friction mount which came with a better cord and plug. The friction mount also stopped the problem of the suction cup constantly falling off the windshield.

Charging unit with AC adapter

I have a 100v A/C power / charger unit for my garmin C340 GPS that I use to charge my Garmin's battery every day. I can use thj adapter to run the GPS, or just turn it off and let it charge the GPS. But it connects dirctly to the Garmin GPS unit, not to the cradle like the Cigarrette lighter unit does. .
