I recently got my Pioneer 810H fixed after a few years of not using it. I tryed to reconnect it in a new location through a phone line. When I originally hooked it up, the sound wasnt working on any of the TiVo settings (not the old programs left on the harddrive, not the movie DVD settings, and not even the sounds of movement in the TiVo main menu).
I thought if I ran the Guided Setup then it might help. I have a basic Comcast tripple pack and was going to run the TiVo service through the phone line but its not working. I connected the line through a phone jack and not through my router becasue its too far from the TiVo. I've tried all sorts of different combinations of the settings of the options. Unfortunatly the only thing that I can do with the tivo is going through the Guided Setup again and again.
Any help or throughts as to what the problem might be?

I believe that you are already on the right path, your tivo will still be assuming that you are running off the cable box plus you watch dancing with the stars for five minutes one time just to see Warren Sapp attempt to dance and now all of a sudden it wants to record every single piece of televison with dance in the title or discription, but I'm not bitter.
Just re-accomplish the set up and let it know that you are no longer running a cable box. Also tell it that ditching you friday night to hang with it's old high school buddies was so not cool.

Thinking the problem might be the cable box..I bypassed the Tivo and hooked the cable box direct...there was audio on ch. 3 ....reconnected the Tivo and the audio was fine...strange?
Thank you.

The Pioneer DVR810H I bought used from an ad in craigslist is showing similar symptoms:
cannot connect to Tivo service. It first says preparing for a few minutes, then it goes into Dialing, then it shows NEGOTIATING in the Connecting Menu and just get stuck there for a long time and ultimately
says unable to connect.
so I am not sure what it means by Negotiating:
1. Is the modem on the unit bad?
2. Is the hard drive in the unit defective?
any help will be appreciated.
thanks
dan
I have similar problem.
the Pioneer DVR810H unit when plugged in goes immediately into
guided setup .
1. it goes into connecting cycle and first says Dialing, and then in this menu says NEGOTIATING and gets stuck here and finally ends up with
unable to connect after a long time.l
what is it negotiating? Is this doing some handshaking with TIVO and failing as :
1. the hard disc is bad
2. the Pioneer unit modem is bad?
or is there is some other problem any one knows off?
thanks
dan
I have the same problem. I use a phone line and have checked it and it works but the 810 h says service not responding.
