My lexmark x4270 can't connect message. what do I do?

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer. Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection.

If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

1. Disconnect the printer from your computer.

2. Re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.

2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.

3. Delete the Lexmark print object.

4. Reboot your pc.

5. When your pc turns on, reconnect the printer.

6. Wait until your pc fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, then try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

You may also try to update your printer driver by visiting the Lexmark website at http://bit.ly/gKXn7F. Select your operating system, download and execute the file.

If the problem continues, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for additional assistance.

This could be a printer driver problem. Try to uninstall your existing Lexmark X4270 printer driver from your computer. On your computer, go to Start menu > Programs > Lexmark 4200 Series > Tools > Uninstall. After the process, reboot pc when prompted.

Computer wont communicate with printer

If you have installed your printer on your PC using an original Lexmark Driver CD that came with your product and you are experiencing problems when printing, you may have installed the Windows XP driver.

Follow these steps to resolve:
Disconnect your USB cable from your printer.
Uninstall all Lexmark printer drivers on your PC.
Download the correct Vista driver for your model.
Install the driver on your PC.
Important Notice -
Do not reconnect the USB cable until the install software prompts the question of how the printer is connected.
go to Lexmark website using this link: http://support.lexmark.com/perl/support/support.cgi enter your product number (X4270) and you will find your driver for Vista. Good luck.

Disconnected the printer from the computer...waited 30 minutes...reconnected and the power was restored. This was suggested by a tech friend who says that sometimes clears the memory.

No communications computer to printer

With the Lexmark printers communication subsystem you MUST let the driver ask for you to plug in the printer. DO NOT plug the printer into the USB port until told to do so.

To fix a fouled install:
(1) Uninstall the Lexmark drivers in Add Remove Programs
(2) Shutdown the computer
(3) Disconnect the printer from the USB port
(4) Restart the computer
(5) Run the Driver Installation software
(6) Cancel ALL attempts by windows to auto install the printer
(7) When the software asks for the printer connect it and continue

Computer won't recognize printer

We know it isn't the printer or the USB cable. We know it isn't the software. You are running Windows XP on both the desktop and laptop, correct? On your desktop, you go to 'Start''Settings''Printers' and is the printer there ?? Try this; go to 'Start' 'Settings''Control Panel'. Double click the 'System' icon. Click on tab 'Hardware', click on 'Device Manager'. Do you see a yellow (!) on any Universal Serial Bus Controller. If not, were good. Check all USB ports with a USB mouse or device to make sure they're active.
