need to call ge at 1800-386-1215 some of these sxs have a door insulation issue that they will either send replacement doors to an authorized service company to exchange at no cost to you or offer a rebate for a newer model. yours might be in this group
have your model and serial number out of the ref located in the refrigerator section, about 4-5 inches from the celing down the right side and call and see

SOURCE: water stopped running in the dispenser

I had a simular problem! I tried multiple things to make it work!

- bought new filter
- open back of the fridge... (dual outlet water valve)

Finally, I went to a different forum and found a unique idea.

First at the very bottom of the fridge theres a cover remove the cover and you should see the water hose running to the door from the back. In the middle of the hose there a coupler where the hose was spliced by the manufactuer. Now this valve once you separate it will not work correctly, unless you buy a new coupler (4$)... I'm el cheapo, I bought teflon tape for 50 cents (from previous project)... Wrapped around about half dozen times and made sure it wasnt leaking...

Secondly, when you disconnect the coupler no water should shoot out, until you press the water dispenser arm. If water shoots out of the hose on the bottom then you problem is really, really, really easy. You have simplely ice/ or another item blocking water hose to the actual dispenser.

I turned off the frezzer left the door open for an hour or so. I also used my wife's blow dryer on hot, and put it where the ice comes out of the ice maker. I would press the arm peridocially to see if the ice blockage melted yet. REMEMBER: door must be closed for pressure to push on the ice blockage. Thinking back, I might have been finished sooner... I was thinking the water dispenser would work with the door open.

If this doesnt work, then you have other problems... Bad water dispenser selonoid (you can hear this little motor turning even without water), dual water outlet valve maybe broken... Going outside my knowldege level at this point.... But i guess you computer board maybe going bad. Not sure if this computer has anything to do with water dispensing....

Hope this helps! My wife left me alone for about a day or two while she enjoyed the water dispenser...And she broke the vaccum.

SOURCE: GE Profile Refrigerator Ice/Water dispenser not working

Hi Urban Woman,

Unfortunately, your dispenser interface board has gone to appliance parts heaven and needs to be replaced. Fortunately it's relatively cheap. If I recall correctly, all you have to do to access the dispenser board is use a small flat screwdriver. There are 2 locking "tabs"/slots on either side and underneath the board (you will barely be able to see it, they're just that small). 6fb5654.jpg

Of course you already know that you need to unplug the fridge before doing any repairs so I can skip that part.

Insert your screwdriver into those slots and pry the bottom of the board out. Then grasp it with your hands and remove it completely. There are three wire bundles on it, remove them and re-install them on the new board. Then simply snap the new board into place.

This should take maybe 15 minutes to do... super easy job.

SG

p.s. Here's a link to the service manual, but the removal of the dispenser board is not in it (everything else is, though, so it may come in handy later)

p.s.s. Since you're going to be unplugging the fridge for the repair, you ought to go to Home Depot and pick up one of these to plug it back into. Transient voltage spikes are most likely the cause of all your woes... including the main board that was replaced.

I have a GE profile refrigerator model#PSC23SGPA SS and the water dispenser in the front door of the freezer, when in use will not stop dispensing water in our cups. Please help

There is a plastic piece that is on the side of the actuator that comes in contact with a micro switch that fires the water valve. That switch is held by plastic clips. They break or get weak over time.

I have a GE Profile Model PSC23NGPA side by side refrigerator and recently the dispensed water tastes mildewed or something. I usually replace the filter and it corrects it. This time the filter didn't...

The bad taste in the water rarely comes from the refrigerator itself and 99% of the time comes from the water supply. If I had to guess, I would say that there is some kind of flexible line hooking your fridge up to the house. Either braided stainless steel or an opaque whitish rubber line and that will be the culprit. (attached pic shows both types)

They are usually used because they bend easily and are very abrasion resistant however I have found over the years that something within the rubber lining makes the water taste horrible! It does not happen right away and I have seen it occur between 8 months to several years after initial install date.

If you have this type then have it replaced with copper line only with precautions to avoid damage when moving the unit in or out. Install the filter bypass and flush it for several days by letting the icemaker run normally while dumping the bucket and getting glasses of water with at least a minute or two break in between so you do not overheat the water valve.

Let us know if this helps/corrects the issue

In my GE Performance refrigerator side-by-side Ice is being made, but no water is dispensing. The GE Smartfilter is atleast 5 yrs old. I just replace new filter still not working

If the water stopped before you replaced the filter we have something to consider is that the water control valve on the rear of the back of your Profile and down where the water enters the refrigerator you will see two coils and a set of female plugs attaches to each coil. Most likely the coil for your water dispenser is defective and and the side for the ice has not failed. When telling you the correct model of your profile is needed to give you the replacement part number for your dual water control valve. In a few moments I will show you an example of the part that I am talking about, Thanks, Sea Breeze

GE profile side-by-side water dispenser works, no ice though

Ice maker bad or the ice maker water valve mounted on the same bracket as the dispenser is bad. These frigs are prone to bad ice makers after a few years.

GE Profile Refrigerator water dispenser stop working...

This could be a bad water valve on the back of refrigerator or the dispenser is not asking the water valve to open. There are 2 valves in back, one is for ice maker and other is for the dispenser. I will help to try to locate the problem if you need, let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze
