No video from my Denon AVR-1804

I have my DVD player and Satellite receiver connected to my Denon AVR-1804 receiver. My Denon is connected to my TV. I have had this set up for over 5 years without issues. Suddenly, Upon returning from out of town, I have no video. I have disconnected and re-connected all cables. When I bypass my Denon, and connect the DVD or the Satellite receiver directly to my TV, it works. Any advice? Kevin

You can also use a digital coax cable (color orange) to go into coax 1 for DVD coax 2 for cable box. Just make sure to set the coax in input settings. The coax cables are a little cheaper than the optical cables and work just as well.

SOURCE: Playstation3 and Denon AVR-1804

If you don't have a user guide, go to:
usa.denon.com From there, you can click on Support and search for archived info...you will find a pdf there.

Of your five plugs, a red and white next to each other will plug in to the audio in on your denon (Red is for Right) I would use something like the VCR-3 pair on the left side of the rear panel. The other three, Red Green and Blue are for Video Component In on the denon; Use either Video-1 or Video-2 in the component section on the right half of the rear panel.

At his point, it will be best to look at the manual, because you will have to pair the two items together in the menu system. It takes a little patience but isn't too hard.

Good luck.

SOURCE: denon 1905/785 - lost color feeding tv

Your Denon 1905 might be setting it under HDMI for video source. You need to correct it by going to menu,as you browse through the setting, you should able to find video select or video output. It is on the manual.
Remember, you need to run a composite video cable from the video output behind your receiver to your TV video input for this step.

SOURCE: No video on Denon avr 688

After days of frustration the real problem was with the cable box. It needed a firmware update. Following forum advice I disconnected the cable box power cord for a few minutes, reconnected it, allowed the cable box to reinitialize. Turned off receiver and TV. Turned TV back on and set it to HDMI connection, turned on receiver and all worked fine. Great picture and sound.( Needed to buy an optical cable to go from the cable box to the receiver to get sound from the speaker system. )--the dirtybird

How to connect Denon avr 1804 connecting to roku hd

I connected by Roku to a Denon 1804 Receiver this way:- I plugged the cable that came with the Roku into VCR2 input jack of the Denon. (I used VCR2 because it was available).- Using the remote from the Denon, I made sure the slide switch was on "Audio." (See page 20 of Denon Manual).- I pressed pressed the System Setup button- *System Setup appears in display of Denon- Using the cursor buttons I scrolled to menu Digital in Assignment- I set Menu item 16 Coaxial to VCR2 since that was the input jack I used for the Roku. - After making the selection press the CH Select Enter button to save- To exit the System Setup press the System Setup button again- When using the Roku, select the input source as VCR2 (or whatever jack you used). You should now have sound through the Denon. The most important step is to read the Denon manual starting on page 20

If the speakers work with test tones this has nothing to do with them and all to do with your attachment and setup of the sources.

Register and download the manual for free at retrevo.com

Stop guessing. Have you looked at all the manuals?

The other devices you're inquiring about are not named in your post. Name the makes and models first, then we'll look for the manuals. Then (maybe) find a solution. You could run them by the manufacturers' support sites or these guys...

This is a site where you can download a manual. I'm not familiar with Denen however, you should be able to go out of satellite receiver(HDMI) to your receiver input(tv/sat) then to your HDMI input on tv. Your receiver might show video and sound through another port of receivers options, ie; video 1, video 2, etc. Check all putput options for your picture and sound. Hope this helps.

Some kind of ground potential difference between the TV and the AVR or perhaps it's a badly shielded cable.

Considering the multitude of variations you may have connecting the TV video and audio to the receiver it's hard to pin it down, but try removing all cabling between them and that should silence the hum. Add any cable and see if it comes back. Disconnect it. Test each cable the same way. At some point a single cable might be implicated. Replace it.

Also consider routing of any analog audio cable near power cables, the TV or other sources of high voltage and magnetic fields. I have a known problem when my overhead dimmer-controlled track lighting is on. Food for thought.

You don't say how "TV audio" is entering the system.

My guess is you're using analog audio Out from the TV into an analog input on the Denon. One channel failing would probably be the Left Channel cable failing or not seated.

I always recommend bypassing the TV audio entirely if the programming comes from somewhere other than its own antenna, as TV audio electronics add nothing good to the process.

If you're using cable box, sat box, game, whatever, ITS audio is best sent directly to your Denon's specialized audio hardware - digitally, if possible, to preserve multichannel possibilities.

You could also run standard analog audio from the cable box to the TV analog Audio IN if you just want to watch news and weather on TV speakers without the Denon involved.

Just fixed this myself - made my head hurt to figure out. 1. Switch to a setting (say DVD). 2. Watch the AVR screen as it switches. You'll see the audio and video settings. For example, Audio = DVD, Video = DVD (Mine showed Audio = DVD, Video = DBS even though is was set correctly using the SETUP for audio and video)3. Under the round control knob on the left, push the (tiny) Video Select button. 4. Turn control know to choose the correct video source
Your system should work right. Mine did.

Denon AVR 1804

You need to get the manual and do some reading first. I couldn't find the AVR-1804 but the AVR-1803 is avaiable. It should be close enough to get you through connection and setup.

Denon avr-1804 its turns back after 5 sec

Disconnect all speaker wires on back and then turn on. If it happens again, it's most likely a power supply problem. If it doesn't happen again, it was probably crossed speaker wires.
