Except in rare cases where you and your friend happen to have computers with the same motherboard (or something really close), exchanging hard drives like this will not work. When windows is installed, it installs the drivers for the computer's specific hardware. If you move the hard drive to a different computer, Windows will try but fail to load because it does not have the drivers it needs.
On a friend's computer, go to this site: Microsoft Windows and Office ISO Download Tool
follow the instructions and you can download the ISO to burn a copy of your Windows disk. There is a sticker on your computer that will have your original ***********. This *********** will only work with whatever version of Windows came with the computer.
Note: If there were important files on your old hard drive, do not use it. An expert can possibly recover your data. Forget about the IDE drives and get another SATA or the speed will drive you crazy. IDE has data transfers at the rate of up to 133MB/s while SATA has data transfers at the rate of up to 6 Gb/s
IDE vs SATA
From the age of the motherboard, it looks like you probably had Windows XP which is no longer being supported. See bottom link.
Have you considered trying something like this:
Main Page Linux Mint
It can actually be installed and run from a CD or flash drive so you can try it. If your old hard drive is connected and the file system has not been damaged, you can even use this to copy files off before you reuse the hard drive.

Unless the manual states that there's a pin header for this, then it probably doesn't have it. To keep costs down and design simple, they probably eliminated it; not surprising, considering this is a microATX board, and many ATX PC's don't come with a case speaker at all these days. The good news is you probably wont need the case speaker, other than to troubleshoot odd startup issues. The bad news is you wont have any good way to troubleshoot odd startup issues... unless it uses the on-board sound card. Try hooking up headphones or speakers to it, and see if it outputs anything during startup. (It may only do so if POST fails, and only if it fails far enough into POST.) Not really anything that can be done, if it doesn't support it.

No Boot (system does post) - Hard drives not detected • Check jumper settings on all IDE devices • Verify that IDE controller is configured correctly in the BIOS • Check to make sure that the drive is connected to the correct controller • Make sure drives are configured correctly for RAID • Verify Onchip IDE configuration for ICH5 SATA operation is set correctly • Test drives with different IDE/SATA cables

Hi again!
Here is the manual, the drivers and everything else there is abut that mobo of yours.
http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=manual&maincat_no=1&prod_no=152
You need to change the settings in the bios, the settings how your motherboard reads the disks. You will find it in the manual-
Good luck
Nic
SOURCE: M/b cannot recognize SATA HDD
This is common to other mainboards, the SATA controller have it's own BIOS, but it only works correctly using two identical SATA HD's at same time for data protection purposes. If you have a free PCI slot there are expansion cards based on VIA chipset VT6421 with 2 internal SATA ports, other external and one IDE. See one here

Once you reset the bios everything goes to manufactures default settings. You will need to make some changes within the bios. You'll need the help of the manual. See page 3-20.
If your operating system is loaded on to the ATA IDE drive make sure you set bios settings as follows:
Connect the ATA IDE to MB primary master IDE port.
Connect the ATA SATA drive to the MB's first SATA port.
ATA Configuration
Set as, [P-ATA+S-ATA]
S-ATA Keep [Enabled] Set to [Yes] This enables the SATA controller.
P-ATA Keep [Enabled] Set to [Yes] This enables the IDE controller.
On-chip IDE configuration, "ATA Configuration = [P-ATA+S-ATA]".
Next go to Boot menu. Make sure the ATA IDE drive is chosen as boot device three.
First boot device [Floppy] (If you have a floppy disk drive connected.)
Second boot device would be [DVD/CD-ROM] drive. This should be connected to the MB's secondary IDE port & the DVD/CD-ROM drives Master/Slave jumper, set to Master.
Third boot device [ATA IDE drive]
If your boot drive is the SATA drive than set: third boot device to the SATA drive.
(Hard disk drive with operating system loaded on it).
Save your changes & exit the bios.
Keep in mind all ATA SATA drives are seen as Master drives. SATA drives are seen by the SATA controller & in order by their connection to the SATA port number.
Save & exit the bios. The system will auto restart. Windows should start.
You can download the drivers from MSI WEB support site,
select your model motherboard to download :-
