What does "Refreshing Database" mean?

I was listening to some music the night before this problem occured and fell asleep with it. Fortunately, the auto shut off saved some of the battery. Then I decided to recharge it anyway, but when I plugged it into my computer, there is a green download-like bar and the words "Refreshing Database," but the screen goes black 3/4 of the way down the bar. It looks like the thing's still on since the blue ring is glowing, but I dont know what to do. Can anyone help me?

Will it harm my laptop to listen to music on it every night all night?

No, it will not harm your laptop, it might harm your ears if you listen to it too loud through headphones. The only possible damage could occur if you listen through the laptops speakers, too loud and constant would adversly wear out the speakers.

Sansa e260

Apparently there is a known problem with older firmware with some MP3 files having info in the ID part of the file that makes the player go crazy. So update your firmware or listen to different music :-)

"Bugs Fixed: Stability· Hanging at Refresh Database with certain ID3 tag genres."

This info from page below. Also shows you how to update to latest firmware which may fix your problem
