How do I resolve this error code on my printer
The problem apparently is related to the purge unit located at the far right side on where the printhead moves back and forth.
there appears to be three common problems that causes the error, which is related to a paper jam error. 1) If its a new printer or even an older one, there are two sponges that collect ink and two plastic wipers located in purge unit may be loose or missing. Check to see if its it there. If not, it may actually be stuck somewhere.
2) there may some paper stuck somewhere around the printhead and or the purge unit or
3) there is a build up of gooey ink on the purge unit.
, I turned off the printer & unplugged it, move the printhead to the left and used long Qtips with Windex to clean up the ink around the purge unit including a little white plastic spring-loaded lever. also dampen the sponges with Windex. If you do this be careful not to dislodge the sponge or wipers. If you do, you can alway stick the pieces back in. After cleaning it, and checking the sponges and wipers are seated correctly, plug the unit back in and hopefully it will work fine. hope this helps.dont forget to rate as fixyaa
thanks and Godbless

try simply moving the cartridge back and forth a few times first
Because: 6A00 is a problem with the sheet feed unit. Follow Canon's suggestion, take it or send the unit UPS to the Authorized Repair Facility. You will NOT be able to resolve the problem yourself.

6A00 is a purge unit fault, if you have have a years canon warrenty i would call them and get a engineer out to investergate the fault, If not strip machine and and see if the purge unit is moving back and forward. it could be that the carriage unit is stuck on the purge and the carriage unit cant move.
Hope this helps

HI,
Please the pixma off and open the lid.Now manually slide the cartridge-tray to the left.
Use a piece of tissue to clean the base-pad where the heads are
stored.See if it is stuck in a kind of upward position and look if the mechanism that moves the tray is released if not then touch it and it will be loose. Remove all ink residue, move the tray back to its most right position and close everything.
Let me know if you still get the same error.
Thank you

That error means the purge assembly is jammed. Check for paper caught in the right side where the printhead parks, if all clear you will need a new purge assembly. A shop repair for sure....
SOURCE: error code 6A00
Error 6A00 has no specific cause and no specific solution/fix. Sometimes, it's cause by Paper Jam, sometimes Waste Ink Tank Full, sometimes Carriage Problem and still many more.
Simplest Trick: Open the front cover, pull the cartridges with the carriage and leave them somewhere on the passage, now close
the cover and turn off the printer, again turn it on. If it's not a fatal error, there'd be no more problem and no more error displays on the screen.
First try this, open the hood (front cover), after the cartridges moved towards the other end/side, look at the other side (the
side where the cartridges were sitting before it moved to the other side). You'll see the Waste Ink Tank Pads (sponge), remove
them and clean them (they should have been soaked with ink, so use a hand-glove). Remove the pads and squeaze or wash and dry them, after they are cleaned and dried, reinstall (re-seat) them. Now power on the printer and check again.
Secondly, (remove the cartridges before you begin) open the doors and look for paper jam or anything inside the passage and through the paper passage. Use a blower to blow all the dust and clear them out. Now turn off the printer and leave it for few minutes while you clean the cartridges, again switch on the printer, install the cartridges. Now see if it's still there or not.
Try turning the printer up-side down, shake it (do this while the machine is off) and again reboot it. Once again check the status.
Push in a photo paper (or similar thicker paper) into the sheet feeder, do this several times and again reboot the printer.
If the problem even after all these are done, let me know.
Good luck.
