Nikon coolpix 5700 When switched on the view finder and the screen display information but no immage. In outher words the screen lights up but is blank. Please help.

The camera has a iris problem . The Iris of the lens maybe stuck up and is not opening due to which no image can be seen. Opening a Lens to fix that requires expertise. I would recommed to look for a repairman in your area

Nikon has issued a service advisory on this problem with some of their Coolpix models. So they will fix this issue free of cost. This is an issue with the sensor. Please contact the nearest authorized service center.

Here is the ccd advisory for the Nikon:

The Sony may have the same problem, Search on the Internet for key words:
Sony DSC717 ccd advisory. This camera was made in the time when the ccds had a problem (1999 to 2002).
You may want to call Sony for this one.
Sony made the ccds for many brands including Canon, Nikon and many others.

Blank black screen Nikon coolpix 5700

Contact Nikon. There is a known componant problem with this camera (see Nikon onlin support page ). It will be repaired free of charge even if it is out of warantee.

Nikon coolpix 5700

at the back of the camera next to the view finder (bottom right hand corner) is a button and icon marked SEL. pressing this button toggles the lens image from the view finder to the lcd screen and back again. IF neither view is available then I suspect your camera needs some TLC at a repair shop. hope this helps.

Blank view finder and screen

I fear that your camera is having damaged CCD. Pls contact nikon service centre for free repairs as it is a manufacturing defect.
