CTV's PSIP seems to be somewhat "bad", in that quite a few devices have or have had problems with it.

Please contact Bestbuy. They have the option to send a technican at your place. You can also contact the manufacturer.

Thanks

Unplug the tv from main power outlet.remove all the external device connected to the tv.and after 10 minutes plug the power wire of the tv.and check it without connecting any other external device.

thanks.

if the problem does get solve after that.that means there is a problem on the main power supply board of the tv.you have to check for any loose soldering joints.or any burned or bulged capacitors on the power supply board.

if dont have any technical knowledge its advisable to take it to the repair center.

as the cost will be negligible and it is worth fixing this unit.this is a common problem faced by many clients.and it gets easily repaired.

    thanks.

Cold solder joints possibly in power supply and H/V deflection stages near fly back transformer.
Please mention chassis number of your tv to help you with more details or paste circuit board picture here.

My 29 inch crt has sound but no picture

Sounds like a high voltage power supply problem. With the TV on, check to see if CRT has a static charge on face of screen by placing back side of hand in front of it and feel for static charge. Also you could hold a piece of tissue paper in front of the screen to see if static electricity from the CRT attracts it. If no static charge is present, the problem is more than likely in the high voltage power supply. Unless it is something simple, like a loose connection, it would probably be cheaper to replace the TV. Do not probe around in the HV power supply while the TV is on--it could prove deadly.

The screen is black. I have sound but no picture.

Hello,
If everything else works - there is sound and high voltage (static on the screen) - but there is no picture (including no on-screen menus), this limits the likely area of problems is the video output circuitry or CRT filament connections. Check to see if the CRT filaments are glowing. If they are not glowing, check for bad soldering on the CRT neck board and around the flyback transformer.

Where the picture is erratic - coming and going entirely or changing brightness suddenly, with power off, remove the picture tube socket (carefully!) and clean the pins with fine sandpaper and use contact cleaner on the socket. This source of bad connections can result in a variety of erratic symptoms. Check for bad solder connections on the CRT neck board.

Sounds like a power supply fault due to leaky capacitors(electrolitics).
From cold take the back off and run a hair dryer over the power supply for a few minutes then switch on,if it comes up fully working then you have to isolate the faulty part/parts and replace.

SOUND NO PICTURE

Hello, You have a high voltage section problem I would not suggest fixing this set on your own. You will need to take this set to the shop. Because there are no user repairable parts inside of the set.
