My Kodak Easyshare 5100 Printer is having the same problem, but only with the larger prints. The 4x6 prints are perfect but anything bigger than that is printing without any black.
I tried to clean the printer head, which was suggested, but nothing has changed. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix my problem?

The Kodak printhead is known to dry out. You can call kodak customer service and complain your printhead is failling explain you have run the printhead cleaning many times waisting your ink. They should ship you a new printhead and free inktanks.

or if you dont want to wait on the phone....

I have found lysol hand wipes to work wonders on the kodak printhead. I have an ESP 5 and I have wiped the printhead with a lysol hand wipe many times and it works like new. Here is a link to the product.

http://lysol.com/products/disinfecting-wipes/dwipes-4-in-1/

To wipe the printhead follow these instuctions.

remove the printhead from the printer. put the tanks back into the printhead. Be very carefull not to drop the printhead and do not put the printhead on a table with the nozzle plate down (where the ink comes out). take the hand wipe fold it a couple times. Gently wipe the printhead nozzel plate in the direction of the lines on the nozzle plate do not do a circular motion or wipe against the grain. you may not even have to use a wiping motion. you can just place the wipe on the nozzles and let the printhead soak. this will clear up dried up ink and unclog the nozzles.

put the printhead back into the printer run one printhead clean once to purge the ink and try to print.

I hope this helps.

I used my printer to do a photo guest book at my sisters wedding it turned out great (i wipped the printhead before i started all the pictures look perfect!)

Kodak esp 5210 wont print black

I figured it out. If you are low on (25%) on either colors or black, then it won't print. Even if you load a new black cartridge and it reads as 100% black, it won't print because it will only print when BOTH cartridges have been replaced and reads 100%.
Same thing happens reversed with color being replaced.
So basically, ALL printers short you 25% ink and FORCE you to buy their ink more often. Kodak is no exception.
I have 100% black and 25% color and a BW only needed text paper won't print. I been through this before. *facepalm*

Printer does not print in color but only prints in

Run a "print-head-cleaning-cycle" -- the ink inside the cartridges is not getting through the ink-jets, and is not reaching the paper.

Either that, or the electronics inside the ink-jets are malfunctioning, i.e., not telling the ink-jets to shoot the ink out.

Printer will only print in purple/pink,enstalled new colour cartridge configured as required, still no change. help thank you

Print out a calibration sheet, either from the menu, or press photo and cancel at the same time. Your calibration sheet is probably missing a color. You should have black, blue, yellow, and magenta(pink). If you're missing any of these colors, your printhead is clogged. Try doing a printhead cleaning. Print another calibration sheet, if the color is still missing, you need a new printhead. Call Kodak.

Wont respond to computer and printing question

With the kodak printer there is only a single printhead.. When cleaning is done all nozzles are fired. if one color is out of ink and those nozzles fire they can burn out. Inkjet uses electricity to rapid boil the ink to make is squirt out. The ink acts like the water in your cars radiator, if there is no ink and the nozzle keeps firing it will fry. That is why you have to have ink in both cartridges.

As for your printer not responding you could try a different USB port. USB ports on the back of PC are best. A powered USB hub is even better. Try disconnecting all USB devices then re-connect only the printer and see if its responding.
