I have a 8300 and when i went to plug it in for a charge yesterday and as soon as i plugged it in, a battery icon with a red line through it came on the screen. I let it charge overnight and it was the same thing this morning. the phone will not turn on, i have even removed and replaced the battery numerous times and get the same results. Any ideas?
Have you recently installed a 3rd Party application? The fix will be to reinstall the handheld OS.
** Please remember to do a device backup first before attempting the OS reload.

You need to replace your old battery. Don't over charged your battery. If you are using your laptop in your house it is better not to use it with battery. Just use the power adaptor/supply only. Then make sure you will drain the battery let say once a week. =)
Ifthe rechargeable battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be wornout. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cyclesand will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up atall.
ORThe battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected thebattery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time.
Ifthe battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to bereplaced.
If your iPhone's battery runs very far down, the iPhone won't turn on. That's because it's using its remaining battery life to preserve your data and settings. So, your iPhone could be refusing to turn on because its battery doesn't have enough juice. In that case, plug your iPhone into a wall charger or into your computer (plug it directly into the computer; some USB ports on keyboards don't have enough power to charge iPhones). Let it sit for 10-20 minutes. If it was low on battery and needed a charge, when it's got enough juice to power the screen, it will turn on and show you its charging status, starting with the red battery icon.During this process, you may also want to make sure there's no lint packed into your cable or the iPhone's dock connector. This isn't a hugely common problem, but a lot of pocket lint could interfere with the iPhone getting a charge.
Does the phone come on while plugged in? To me it seems that the battery is dead. If you feel the battery is fine then you must visit the BB Service Center.
Try somebody else's battery, if the problem persists, it's most likely a logic board issue. There are blackberry repair
websites that show you how to do the replacement yourself, otherwise
here is a service that can repair any Blackberry Bold, Storm, Pearl,
Curve, 8800 for screen, lenses,
track balls, usb ports, waterdamage etc.
The website is: Blackberry Repair
Remove the back of the phone. Pop out the battery. let it sit for about 10 minutes. Replace the Battery & the back cover of the phone. If the phone starts up, then let it start and immediately plug in the charger and let it charge for 1/2 hour before you touch it again. If the phone does not start up then do not try to start it just immediately plug in the charger and let it charge for 1/2 hour before you touch it again.
sounds like a dead battery. Plug the origional charger into it and the front led (below the flash) should flash red. If the red led in the back of the camera flashes or stays lit, then you have the wrong charger plugged in. (the camera won't power up if the back red/green led is on when plugged in)
i have the same problem except i never saw the battery sign before it turned off?
How would you reset the os?
dropped the phone and now only have the battery with an x through it
