Question about Lexmark Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

I have a lexmark x4270. Having problem sending fax. Sending local number, it's OK, but sending a different area code, it uses the local area code then the first 7 number of that number. Because someone call me saying I'm calling his local number instead. How can I get it to dial distance number, correctly? Zack Allen

Hi zoaj,

More then likely you have the fax set up to USE A DIALING PREFIX.

Therefore it is automatically doing this, regardless of what you input.

Follow the proceedure below ( which comes directly from the users manual for your printer type ) to change this. Delete the " USE A DIALING PREFIX " information.

once that is done, it will no longer automatically add the prefix for you. :)

I have BOLDED the relevant information below that pertains to this.

Please take a moment to evaluate my solution. Your appropriate rating of my solution would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Using the Fax Setup Utility Use this utility to adjust the fax send and receive settings. When you save these settings, they apply to every fax you send or receive. You can also use this utility to create and edit your speed dial list.

Not sending faxes

If you're only having problems sending to some numbers, check the dialing rules for that number if it needs an area code or country code.

There's nothing wrong with your fax or line. You can also try loweing down the maximum send speed for your fax. To do that, on the control panel of your printer, press on Setup > Fax Setup > Dialing and Sending > Max Send Speed.

How do i fax several docs. to same number/?

Actually, it's just like sending a single-page document to a particular number but you just have to insert the multipage document in the feeder. Here's the Lexmark X4270 User's Guide for your reference: http://www.lexmark.com/publications/pdfs/2007/4200/ug/en/frameset.html. Go to Sending a Fax in Faxing for instructions on faxing multipage document. However, if you're gonna be having a mechanical problem on the printer, I suggest you contact Lexmark Technical Support to further investigate the problem. Thanks.

I have a lexmark fax/copier X4270 I can receive faxes but can not send them please help

If you can receive a fax but can't send them, then the G3 fax board is working. It is therefore a settings problem in the unit or a telephone company issue. Review your TX settings and confirm that you have not turned off the send option. If that's ok, then move the fax unit to a different telephone wall outlet and try it. Are you sure your telephone agreement allows out of area dialing? If you have only local service, you'll not be able to dial out to anything outside your local area.

Won't send faxes to 817 area code, all others OK

The recipient may have a DSL phone line, or receiving to a fax server that blocks your area code.

Fax problem

Pending faxes are faxes whose transmission has been delayed either deliberately or unintentionally. Normally, when a fax cannot be sent at the first attempt, the fax machine will redial the recipient's number. If you choose to delay sending a fax, the machine will send it at the time you select for transmission. During the delay period and at any point up to completion of the call, you can cancel the delayed transmission by deleting the fax from the Pending Faxes queue. To do this:

Press the Fax button on the operator panel and then press Options (once only). The Pending Faxes menu will be displayed.
Press Select. If a fax is pending, the printer will display Cancel Fax (the fax number you dialed appears below these words).
Press Select to delete the pending fax.
In response to the Are you sure? prompt, press 1 for Yes ( 2=No).
Press Options (once only). The Pending Faxes menu will now display None.

Fax problem

Check your preference settings and make sure the fax is set to receive faxes (my friends has 6 different settings) Your manual should tell you how to do this. The default is different for many fax machines.

X4270 lexmark printer hook up

I have a lexmark X4270, I'm having a problem with the fax machine, the display keeps displaying "clear paper Jam", however there is no paper jam. I'm also not being able to recieve or send any faxes. I'm low on ink, would this prevent sending faxes? Any suggestions?
