I was having this exact problem. You have to go to the "Audio MIDI setup" icon in the utilities folder. plugin your mac to the HDMI and TV and it should show up on the menu bar on the left as "HDMI"- then click it. then you have to click on the "format" drop down menu and change it to either 48000.0Hz or less. Make sure that the volume is down on your TV bc I almost gave myself a heart attack when I clicked it. Apparently the TV HDMI input is not compatible with the default on the Mac. Hope this helps!

How to Fix MacBook Pro HDMI Not Working?

Having trouble with your HDMI port not detecting your monitors or TVs all of a sudden? Go to system preferences -- Click Display - Hold down the alt option key -- click the newly revealed Detect Displays button on the bottom right of the Display settings panel. That should solve 90% to 99% of issues if your cables and Macbook pro are good. This happens to me all the time when I try to plugin to a 4K tv at the office which is the exact same model I have at home. The one at home works while the one at the office never auto detects. If this did not fix your issue, check that your Macbook Pro HDMI port and HDMI cable ends are clean and free from debri and not damaged, double check that your HDMI cable is working on other devices, make sure your TV or display is powered ON, check that your HDMI cable is securely and fully seated, check that you're on the right input on your TV or Display, make sure the cable is not too long because HDMI has length limits depending on the cable and devices, and then force detect display again on your Macbook pro. If this still did not work, when it worked before. It's likely that your Macbook Pro, TV, or Macbook Pro HDMI port is acting up. I'd recommend taking in your Macbook Pro to the Apple store at that point to get diagnosed. Hope this helped

How can I connect my macbook pro to my Lc-40D68UT Sharp TV

get the appropriate dongle to adapter from your macbook to HDMI, as your TV appears to have HDMI in. Apple sells the adapter, but it is cheaper on Amazon and other outlets.

Macbook pro 10.6 os. And hook up to my wifi panasonic 26"tv to steam movies from my macbook

Try and use the bluetooth: Make your T.V. discoverable(I'm sure it's under the network settings or maybe it has a bluetooth settings tab) and pair with it trough your macbook. I would personally just hook up a thunderbolt to HDMI or VGA. You could also get a apple T.V. and connect that way.

My toshiba 40e210u lcd tv won't show full image on screen

The Aspect ratio of the TV could be on the wrong setting for the image you are trying to view. Widescreen's standard ratio is 16:9 ensure the TV is not set to zoom, 4:3, or pan & scan in the picture menu of your TV.

If the picture looks normal except it's just missing the edges or looks squashed or looks like it is zoomed in from the normal image then aspect ratio is probably the cause.

How to stream media from macbook pro to lg smart tv

From what I can see, there is no way to stream to this TV from any computer. You'll most likely have to buy an adapter cable to allow you to connect your Macbook Pro to one of the HDMI ports of the TV.

Sharp Aquos LC-32GH5 and MacBook problem, HELP! I've recently bought a 32" Aquos and want to use it with my MacBook as a secondary monitor and screen for movies, etc... I bought all...

it sound like you did the right thing . The problem is the mac output for sound is bad or the TV input sound is bad.
try input a mp3 radio to the TV verify TV is working.
put an earphone to the mac to verify the mac out sound is working .
if both are working just tool around a little and you will get it. good luck

I have connected my macbook to my tv using mini

Later MacBook (Pro) use a mini-DVI connector that does not pass analog needed for composite or S-video. Was yours ever working? And most DVI connectors do not pass sound as seen by your cabling. You cannot detect display through RCA. You just set it in Sys Prefs :: Displays, try some other settings, although your seem right.
I have a white early-2009 MacBook and mini-DVI to HDMI adapter (monoprice <$10) and HDMI cable and have not connected the TOS-link for sound, yet--just slideshows at 1920x1080. You will get a much better picture digitally. -Ken
