I purchased my Toshiba from Circuit City with MicroSoft Works on it. I now need to reinstall Works because the microsoft Word trial is over. It's asking for a disk to install Microsoft Works which I don't have. I can't reinstall Microsoft Works. Please help

Microsoft really needs to find a solution to this problem because its a very common and frustrating occurrence, have him log straight in to his microsoft email account associated with the trial version of windows. (Dont login thru the prompting for renewal it never works damn microsoft for wasting our time with that method, I feel bad for the normal user because me as programmer had a hard time!!)
In your account you can see a list of programs or purchases (including trial versions) associated with your Microsoft account this includes hotmail,outlook, or whatever microsoft email you have and cancel the trial make sure you do this and always keep in mind that its important to do this especially with Microsoft office and its trial versions because their support people are clueless.
The best way to bypass all this is to create a new microsoft email account go to the prompt to try the trial version only DONT use the trial version purchase it and use the new email address as your login and then enjoy your windows program

You should really only use a genuine, unused product id or activation code with Microsoft Office 2007 or you will almost certainly have authorization problems.


If you bought your Microsoft Office online from an authorized microsoft retailer then you would have received the product key with the software. There are some websites online which claim that you can download Microsoft Office 2007 from them but as far as i know there is nowehere on the internet where you can download a genuine copy of any Microsoft Office software except the official Microsoft website.

The only legal downloads of Microsoft products are available only from Micrsosoft and as far as I am aware Microsoft do not offer downloads of old products like Microsoft Office 2007 or Office 2003. The only Microsoft Office product you can download is the trial version of whatever latest version of Microsoft Office that is available. Currently you can only download Microsoft Office 2010 trial. trial versions of Microsoft Office are free to download but can only be used for the limited trial period. After the trial period ends you have to upgrade to the full version and pay Microsoft for an online activation code which unlocks the trial version's time limitation and allows you to use it indefinitely.

If this is the type of software you need but you don't want to or cannot afford to pay what Microsoft Office costs, then you can use completely free Office software like OpenOffice, which is very similar to Microsoft Office and can even be used to open most Microsoft Office documents. I had this same issue with my laptop. This only works if the software was pre-installed onto your laptop. Otherwise, you need to visit the microsoft website and purchase a product key.

If Word was pre-installed, what you need to do (if I recall correctly) is go into Microsoft Word. In the menu, there should be an option that has something to do with registering the product online. Simply click on that, agree to a few things, and you will have a working version of Microsoft Word

When you purchased the Toshiba laptop it will include some trial programs and one of them is Microsoft Office 2007 you will need to purchase a product key.

The preinstalled software was a evaluation product the manufacturer was paid to install on your computer.

You do not need to enter a registration key to continue working with the native Microsoft Works 9 SE applications: Works Word Processor, Works Spreadsheet, and Works Database. However, the integrated Microsoft Office 2007 trial version is for evaluation purposes only. At the end of the trial period the product will go into reduced functionality mode and you will have the option to convert it into a full version. You can obtain a 60-day trial registration key from the Microsoft web site or you can buy the program and get a full license key.

If Office came preinstalled then the product key should be on the booklet or on the office cd case itself. If it is the trial version then you will need to purchase a key from Microsoft at www.microsoft.com. If you need a key for a product you purchased then you will need to contact Microsoft support as they are the only ones authorized to replace lost keys. Hope this helps.

Unless you paid extra for it, it's just a trial and you have to follow the steps on the activation page to have microsoft send you a trial key or purchase the product to use it. If you do opt for the trial version it will only work for 30 days/tries and then you will need to buy it.
