Question about Home
When I take a shower, little water comes out the shower head, should I call a plumber,or is this something that I can fix myself?
Remove the shower head. and if the water flows normal, its a clogged up shower head. if takeing a shower and the diverter valve goes bad. water will come out of the spout. check out shower head to see if its clogged. sometimes you can soak the head in a good cleaner and it helps it. but if its the showerhead thats plugged. you can always put a new one on also. good-day !

The Shower Valve is regulated to give only 2.2 gallons a minute. If you have the shower head off test how many seconds to get an approximiate gallon running in the middle hot/cold position. If longer than 30 seconds either the stem in the valve is clogged or the water lines to the valve are too small or kinked.

Replacing the cartridge should solve the problem, the balancing spool is stuck, replacing it will solve the problem. The valve should look like this http://www.moen.ca/shared/pdf/3170pt.pdf . I have unstuck the spools in the past, soaking it in white vinegar will help to remove build up.

using a pair of vice grips wrapped in a soft towel( to prevent scractching) turn the shower head in a counter clockwise direction to remove it then apply liquid teflon (real-tuf) to the threads on the shower arm and tighten the shower head but dont over tighten it liquid teflon is more effective at sealing leaks than teflon tape and it can be wiped clean
