Hiya thanks for advice. I ended calling tesco tec suppoert and it totally baffled them as the dvd screen saver had binary machine code running along the top and down the side. They concluded that it was a software problem. They were brilliant and exchanged the dvd tv cant argue with that.

You can try using a DVD cleaner disk on your unit, try several times to make cretin it is clean then try your DVD`s again, if the unit was stored in a damp area this may be a problem, DVD players can be finicky due to this, there may also be a manufacturing defect in the unit that made it fail prematurely.

My daughter has been playing with the remote control on her Technika tv/DVD combo and now it will only play dvd's in black and white can anyone please help x

Hi, First check that the colour is set to about half way and that you can actually adjust it. Then check the colour system when playing a dvd, set it to PAL or NTSC or whatever the DVD recommends or in the menu. Is it still black n white when you watch just the Television programs?

DVD Playback is only Black & White

Different areas use different colour systems. The most common types being PAL and NTSC. What I think you might have done is changed the colour type setting to one that is not compatible with your TV. If you have the manual look up the colour settings. If you haven't got the manual look around the main menu for them. If all else fails use the factory reset.

Magnovox dv220 mw9 plays in black and white only

Hello
The output signal's colour system to this player is NTSC. Just look whether your TV is NTSC system compactable. Check whether the disc is recorded in any other colour system, like PAL or SECAM. These are the reasons for absence of colour to the picture. Check whether the colour control of the TV is at minimum.

When I play a DVD, it is in black and White. When I play the tv it is in colour. Can't get the DVD to play in colour!

You have one of several possible problems, ranging from best case scenario to worst case scenario:
A DVD video that is supposed to be black and white - try a different disc.
Some setting on the DVD player is set to monotone - check manufacturer's instructions
A bad set of cables connecting the dvd player to the tv - test a known good set of cables
A bad output on the DVD player - test DVD player with a different TV.
A bad input on the TV - try another input if possible, test TV with a known working video input.

VHS plays in colour and DVD plays in black and white.

there is a circuit in the color section to put the tv to black and white if the color subcarrier is missing from the broadcast signal.
it is called a color killer and needs to be adjusted.
it is for a technician to do.
it operates off the 3.58mhz color subcarrier.

Picture only shows in black & white when playing DVD

Same problem with an older JVC player. One end of the S-video cable was loose. Pushed in in tight and everything ok again. Cheap fix if it works for you.
