First verify that the mute is disengaged (toggle the mute button). Second, check the sound configuration to make sure the internal speakers are on, or check the sound output to make sure it is going to the inputs of an external audio amplifier (stereo receiver) and that the external amplifier is working. Try a different input source - perhaps the problem is your cable feed or DVD player.
If the internal speakers are on, the volume is up, and you still don't get any sound from a known-good source (TV channel, DVD player, etc.), then try running the sound to a stereo system as described above.
If that works, you may have a shorted speaker amplifier (depending on the set's design, this may blow a fuse supplying power to both left and right amplifiers or a speaker protection circuit will keep the speakers disconnected). These aren't usually hard to repair, but if you find a blown fuse, fix the amplifier before replacing the fuse or you'll just waste another fuse.

My Samsung DLP HLR5667W went blank. Just before it went out, I was unable to control volume/mute. I replaced the lamp ($175 a Walt's ripoff shop) and the TV worked for four hours then died again

I would guess that it could be the main board going bad. Check all our connections and wiring. You should call places like Tri-State Module and they can probably send you a part or repair for way less than 500 bucks.

Samsung UN46D6300 TV not in Logitec Harmony 700 remote database. Need IR code/s to enable controls (especially TV input source selection). Learning mode was only partially successful for power, volume...

When i went into the Harmony software, your TV did come up. If these codes aren't working try a different model Samsung (like UN46D6000). All new Samsungs use the same code set. If this still doesn't help, go to "Devices"->"Settings"->"Adjust Inputs"->"Method 3". Follow the directions from there. Something else that may help is Samsung calls it the "Source" button, Logitech calls it "Input x".

I have a samsung LE26R51BDX/XEU last night we turned the TV on and the volume went up by itself to 100 (without the control). The TV volume will not go down using the buttons at the side or the remote...

Sounds like the control buttons [microswitches] of the volume, inside the front panel control, have been strucked by anyway. Just replace it. Two of them. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.

LG TV 32LB9D VOLUME STUCK AT 100, NO RESPONSE TO REMOTES

The fault may be on the control board. Sometimes the button switches can be stuck, or there may be something causing some conduction on the control circuit board. It is also possible to have a component failure that is causing a continuous command to keep the volume to the high position.

Something that causes failures of controls in TV sets is when people clean the screen, they spray liquid cleaner on the screen. Some of it drips down in to the controls and on to the circuit board. This will usually cause damage, and thus the set will require shop service.
