The handset needs to be registered to work with the base. Since you didn't specify the model of your phone, I can't give you specific instructions for this. Select the model of your phone from the list beginning at
http://www.uniden.com/owners-manuals/dect-phones/scat/dectphones_mnl to get the manual.
Examine the base of the Uniden cordless phone. Locate the "DND" button on the main base of the phone. The DND button means do not disturb and it puts the phone in silent mode when pressed
Reactivate the ringer by pressing the "DND" button again. All the handsets will ring when someone calls you.
You didn't give your phone's model number, so I can't give detailed steps. ("DECT 6.0" is a generic term for the cordless technology used, and appears on almost every cordless phone that uses it. The actual model number is on a label on the rear or bottom of the base unit.) Usually, registering a handset is just a matter of placing the handset on the base, but sometimes you need to enter a registration mode first. You can download manuals from Uniden here. Pick your model from the list, and the manual will guide you through the process.
The handset needs to be registered to a base station. I wish I could tell you exactly how to do this, but since you didn't specify the model of your Uniden cordless phone you'll just have to look it up in the manual.
Often the handsets must be re-registered when they won't work. Sometimes they have to be de-registered, then re-registered before getting them to work. Uniden has many different model number 5.8 GHz cordless phones, send a comment with the model number and I will give specific help on your cordless. I have included a link where Uniden cordless manuals can be downloaded if you need it.
Since you declined to specify the model of your Uniden phone I can only suggest that you select it from the list beginning here to download a copy of the manual.
You can downlaod the manual from uniden in pdf form. http://www.uniden.com/products/productdetail.cfm?product=DECT1580-4
the -4 or -5 refers to how many handsets you set. The 1580 is the actual model number.
To register I think all you do is place them on the master pad once then on their own charger stations. On some models they come all done so you just plug them in charge them up and use them.
