When not in use the water fills the tub. A little bit more every day. It seems to drain fine while in use but when not in use water somehow gets in the tub.
Another problem could be the inlet solenoid is failing to close properly, this could be caused by either an obstruction in the sealing part of the solenoid valve, a damaged or worn out seal or if the water pressure is too low. (some solenoids require water pressure to close off properly). To test this idea turn off the taps when not in use. If the water is still filling the tub, the back flow / syphoning idea may be valid. Also just to rule the idea out, turn off the tap to the machine and remove the inlet hose, if the tap "drips" this "trickle" of water maybe the culprit. If turning off the inlet tap fixes the problem you may need to replace the inlet solenoid.
SOURCE: Will not drain or spin
Unless you jarred the machine it's the timer. You can check this by bypassing the lid switch and seeing if it will cycle.
SOURCE: water runs into tub but does not fill?
be sure the drain hose is not lower than the wash tub this will caust the water to run out, 2nd be sure the drain hose is not pushed to far into the house stand pipe and the there is rome for air to go inbetween the drain hose and stand pipe eather of these will cause the machine to siphon mostly on rince cycle or on the 2nd and third loads you do. last your house drain could be starting to back up fill the washer with water and listen to it drain if you hear a gurggling sound in the house pipe you may need a plumber to cleanthis out for you.
SOURCE: When tub filling, it drains out at the same time.
The outlet of the drain hose must be higher than the water level inside the tub--normally the pump inside removes the water when needed. Get a plumber to install a proper height drain pipe for you.
