Sansa e280 - missing songs from mp3 playlists but playable through the computer

I downloaded some music from my computer on to the mp3 player some time ago and everything was working fine, butrecently, once the player is disconnected from the computer, a lot of filesare missing from the music list. In a lot of cases, only one track shows inthe album folder.
However, when the player is connected to the computer, I can play those 'missing' filesfrom the Sansa drive and they also show up in the Explorer window.
Whydoesn't the player recognise them? I tried deleting the album folders from the player and starting again, but that didn't work.

Hi make sure that the songs that are on the player are in MP3 or WMA file format. If they are in MP3 or WMA format, reformat the player and reload the songs back to the mp3 player. I and some of my friends experience the same problem but thanks from the sandisk technical support people i found out that it was just the songs that i am transferring are in MP4. Hope this helps out.

My Sansa e280 is not downloading my playlists from Windows Media. I have tried dragging and dropping the playlists from my computer music folder to the Sansa folder and it still will not write to the mp3...

Hello,
The Sansa e280 can be operated in 2 ways of USB connection modes: MSC or MTP.

In MSC mode, viewing the player as a removable disk, the "copy
and paste" or "drag and drop" method will work.
In MSC mode always through the "safely remove hardware" icon, click to remove the player's disk before taking out the USB cable.

In MTP mode, operating the player in software like Windows Media Player: under Library or Sync,
first create a playlist
next sync the playlist.
In MTP mode, follow up the warning or text in the software that gives permission when to disconnect the player.

Computer doesn't recognize MP3 player -

Check My Computer. If the PC recognises the Sansa player then simply add the songs by dragging the files into the player's icon on My Computer. Sometimes this kick starts the built in software included on the mp3 player.

Deleting songs.

Your DB might be corrupt. Folow the delete procedure one more time:
Delete Music Files
1) Connect your Sansa to the computer.
2) Select Open device to view files using Windows Explorer on initial
connection.
3) Select the place where you want to delete music files from
4) Highlight and delete the music file/s or folder from My Computer\Sansa
e200\...\MUSIC
folder. (You can also select from a variety of music
software programs to transfer/synchronize your files).

If that fails, go ahead and update the firmware - it will delete everything, and allow you to start over from scratch among other things.

Cant remove songs from sansa

Try enabling hidden files and folders on your PC.

SanDisk has the MUSIC folder(s) hidden by default.

Best of Luck.

Duplicating songs

The device has 2 modes of operation MSC and MTP.

If you put music or playlists on in either mode and then changed modes to add more music, you will inevitably have duplicated your music.

Best solution is to format the device to remove everything, then pick one mode ant use that one only.

Best of Luck.
