Everytime I try to install the ScanSnap Manager, I keep getting the error code: -1 and it asks me to uninstall and then reinstall. It has installed the organizer and the CardMinder with no trouble. I've unistalled the program and rebooted the computer mulitple times and it still doesn't work. I've even tried two other disks (My job just bought 3 of these scanners, and everyone else has theirs up and running.) Any suggestions? I'm running Windows XP
The CD is defective. Get another CD and try it. I was having the same problem. I browsed the CD because I wanted to install just the Scan Snap manger. I discovered that the CD ROM could not read that part of the disk, so I tried the installation from another CD disk, and it worked like a charm.

As from your question it is understood that, you have not correctly uninstalled all the software and drivers related to Fujitsu Scansnap S1500M printer from the computer. So to help you uninstall it correctly and reinstall it again, please follow the step-by-step instructions mention under 'Uninstalling on a Windows OS' on page.no.355. and to reinstall it follow the instructions mention under 'Installing Scansnap Manager on Windows' on page.no.47 from the user manual link given below: http://www.fujitsu.com/downloads/COMP/fcpa/scanners/s1500_s1500m_ops-guide.pdf
The same thing happened to me. In a nutshell, you have to install new drivers. Have you recently upgraded your system to SnowLeopard or Lion? I did, and that's what went wrong.
To do: 1. Make sure you have the latest ScanSnap manager: http://www.fujitsu.com/global/support/computing/peripheral/scanners/drivers/mac.html Install that. 2. Get the Lion update: http://www.fujitsu.com/global/support/computing/peripheral/scanners/drivers/mac-mg22.html Install that. 3. Open the new ScanSnap Manager (v 2.2). Delete the old one from your dock, so you don't get confused. 4. Scan away.
Normally this error will only come up when you have already tried installing the Scansnap Manager. Go to C:\Windows\SSDriver. Right click the folder and select properties, select the security tab, then make sure "Users" has full control. Repeat these steps on the PFU folder in Program Files. Put in the Scansnap disk and navigate to the Tools folder. Run the SSCleaner tool and delete all of the Scansnap components. If Scansnap Manager is not listed in the Cleaner tool, Delete the contents of the SSDriver and PFU folders manually.
Restart the computer and reinstall the components.
This is probably due to the program using the same folder for the new version of the program. Best solution would be to uninstall the new version, uninstall the old version and then reinstall the newset version only. Running a registry cleaner in between does not harm.
There should not be any problem installing that sofware on that OS and version. My guess is you have a botched (corrupted) install. Try uninstalling if you can otherwise let me know and we'll "clean out the registry." Good luck!
