The waste toner cartridge has a transparent extrusion on the bottom, which fills with toner when the cartridge is full, but also if it is half full and shaken so that toner falls into this extrusion. If this happens, the only way to remove the toner is to open the cartridge by removing the tape, taking the two halves apart and shaking/blowing/hoovering it empty. You can stick them together again with ordinary sellotape.
ERROR CODE: E020
“SECONDARY TRANSFER VOLTAGE CONTACT/RELEASE PROBLEM”
Solution
Electric parts which can cause the trouble:
• Transfer Roller Pressure Solenoid (SL2)
• Transfer Roller Pressure Position Detection Sensor (PC7)
• Engine Board (PWB-A)
E086 is an ADC sensor error, it is usually caused by a piece of paper caught between the rollers of the photoconductor/IDT unit. Open the front cover, operate the latch inside the handle & turn the handle to the bottom position. Pull the handle to draw out the IDT unit until it stops. Gently lift the orange handle on top of the unit to remove the PCU. Treat these parts gently and avoid shining bright light at them as they are very sensitive. Check for & remove any paper and clean any toner spills with a soft cloth or air duster being careful not to scratch the delicate surfaces. Reassemble in reverse order. Hopefully all will now be well, please take a moment to rate the success of this suggestion.
If you changed the bottle and rebooted the printer with no change, it could be that the sensor for the bottle may be faulty. Try cleaning it:
1. Remove the CASSETTE ASSY. 2. Open the COVER ASSY FRONT. 3. Remove the two screws (silver, flanged, 8mm) that secure the COVER over the sensors. Remove the Snap from the main unit Frame, and remove the sensor COVER. 4. Use a paper towel or cloth to clean the sensor area of any dust or toner
Press and hold the four directional buttons as you turn on the power. Keep them held until the panel shows MAINTENANCE MODE. From here you will see the menu entry to reset the fuser counter
